Adelaide vs Hawthorn - Sat night

Source - Phil Harper 5AA tonight

20th anniversary of our first game, good on the AFL for actually helping us with some good scheduling for a change!

I'd be happy with that:thumbsu:. There was another rumour that we were playing Melbourne at home, a certain victory, but if this is true, I would still be happy as it should be a good game.

Any idea on whether it's home or away?

If it's the 20th anniversary then I'm assuming it's at home.

Also the Adelaide v Hawthorn is a bit of a give away. :)

Oh we a terrible home record in Round 1 or 2 losing 8 of 11. Hope we can break that drought next year.

And I hope we get a friday night home game vs Collingwood next year. Something we've never had ever.

Does anyone have or know where to get a DVD copy of that 1991 1st match v Hawthorn?

(I have an old VHS tape which i cant use and "name a game/sports delivered" dont have it either.)

Do you have a DVD burner? You could probably get a decent quality version of it on computer and burn it on to a DVD?

Thanks for the reminder. I meant to do this during the week. Wish I'd watched it during my week's leave :(

seems like yesterday, some of our current squad weren't even born.
Should be a big occasion but hopefully it's not overdone to the point where we forget it's the opening round to a new season!

Yep.. our first ever game was on 22nd March 1991. Sam Shaw (4th April 1991), James Craig (18th April 1991), Daniel Talia (2nd October 1991) and Jack Gunston (16th October 1991) were not born by that date.

There's a reasonable bet that our 2010 draftees may not have even been conceived at the time of our 1st game.

theres a fair chance that one Tony Modra could have a small part in the reason they were concieved too... :D

I'd like to see us go heritage here.

Phil Davis can start a mo for Movember - by March, he should be up to the full David Marshall.

NVB can go a perm, or shave it all off.

Stiffy somehow needs to get a bit ginger and get a wispy mo.

Danger will struggle to get to the combover by March, but it's worth a dip.

Brad Moran can wear long sleeves, but only if they have yellow cuffs.

Okay I will take a stab in the dark Port Adelaide vs Adelaide:thumbsu::rolleyes::thumbsd:

With the new lightning premiership-style format for the first round, there will be a third team involved. But it will most likely be Adelaide, Port and a Victorian team pooled together.

isnt it Adelaide, port and melbourne? Another group i herd was Sydney , Gold Coast and GWS.

Big gripe with the NAB as it is a purely aimed at Vic audiences so in best interest if interstate teams are quickly thinned out:rolleyes:...Maybe a bit OTT, but Adelaide, Powa and say Richmond would be my bet.

We've got the opening night, Friday February 11, against Port and Melbourne at AAMI.

Oh and a quick reminder of how it works:

The clubs have been divided into six pools of three, with members of each pool gathering at one venue to play games consisting of two 20-minute halves.

The teams that top their pools will automatically gain a place in the second round, while the two best-performing runners-up will also progress as wildcards.

All second-round matches, along with the semi-final and grand final, will be full-length games.
