Because he is providing something we need desperately, drive from half back and he’s been doing it for weeks in the scratch matches, would rather see him than SPS who offers very little forward momentum and minimal defensive effort, if Polson has improved his disposal then he is a must.
I'd be interested to know how his disposal has been, because it hasn't been great previously in the seniors and he doesn't get a lot of penetration. I'd like to see him given an opportunity, but it seems like a long shot based on his past games.

I don’t follow the reserves games this year, but every game I saw Polson play last year I thought he was utter garbage. Why play him?
I found some of his disposal frustrating last season. But, despite those aspects of his game that appeared to need improvement, his attack on the contest was often brutal; in a very good way. I think we could well do with some of what he naturally brings to the contest. Then there's the improvement from then to now.

Has been consistently in the best in nearly all the scratch matches, my question mark as I said is on disposal however a lot of the penetration he is providing is from run and carry and then deliver, we need someone to provide metres gained from half back because Doc just isn’t getting it done as yet and SPS gives us nothing in this regard.

Don't mind one way or another but, do you think he mind have developed a bit since last year? Give me a spell.
Well I’d hope he has developed if he’s in the mx for a call up, cause last year he was turn over central, but as another poster said if he is running off half back, a new position for him and has improved his disposals. Then I’m happy to be wrong in my opinion of him as not an AFL quality player.

If only Kerry Packer was still around. I would have liked to see a Packer led breakaway comp built on the back of down to earth umpiring and transparent administration. Only a legend such as he could save our game from its current dilemma.

I think this refers to Polson.

FWIW he seems to be a real team oriented player.

watched him a while ago always looking to put blocks on oppo KPD’s to free up our KPF’s.

if you doubt the value of this watch Dixon’s last quarter goal against and see Rozee take out Jones in the marking contest.

hope Polson makes it - he’s got the right attitude.

Mate, either the umpire is a cheat, or he is incompetent. Either way he should be dragged over the coals and banned from umpiring, and at the very least our games.

I'm sick of this pussy footing sh*t, he deserves to be held accountable. It's a billion dollar industry with millions of dollars on the line.

The 50 he added on compounded a disgusting decision. No sympathy for the rat whatsoever.

Usually you can say oh well benefit of the doubt 3 umpires on the ground they see things differently, but this prick pays one thing for them, and fu**s us at the other end!

fu** the cheating or incompetent rat

Yeh mate, I'm sure that's the way to handle it...for such a 'billion dollar industries' these blokes are part-time and not professional...many earn under $60,000 a year for all this abuse everyone throws at them...being called 'rats' and 'cheats' by armchair heroes like you...disagree with the decisions all you want but the personal attacks and conspiracy theories are utter crap...

And by the way, no-one knows what that 50 was paid for, what was said to the ump etc...so yeh, you can't say that was wrong...

Players need to take a leaf out of Plow's book...clearly disagreed with the decision, decided just to get on with things...fans could probably learn a bit from him as well..

If Carlton was a player, it would be Jones.
SPS for me.
has all the talent.
good for a qtr or 2. Then goes missing.
when he takes the game on, looks a million bucks
when he tries to defend his position, gets found out.
we all love him, but he hurts us far too often.
just wishes he plays a full game to show everyone what he’s got.

Jeez I miss Zach Touhy. What annoys me with SPS is he’ll pick it up one handed while it’s raining, unbelievable skill, do a dinky sideways pass to a teammate and then just jog on, off the play back to his position. I wanna see him gut run 50 metres for a link up pass break the mid field line and spear one of those dinky 15 metre kicks onto the chest of a forward lead. He’s the epitome of ineffective disposal. Maybe he’s gut running off the ball, but I just see him being content with being a bit player. He up his game to his potential, cause his ceiling is high.

What's with the sudden stern defence of anything umpires here?
How exactly did this come about where discussing the game in total, comes secondary to defending umpires at any cost?
When exactly did this 'movement' take control?

It's boring listening to people whining about umpires but doubly so people defending them as though they were their relatives.

listen mate, last i checked this was the carlton board not the umpires board. How about you stop trolling supporters complaining about the umpires who cleary are either cheats or incompetent?

Last I checked there may be young Carlton fans thinking of becoming umpires reading this crap that you're writing calling this bloke a 'prick' and a 'f**ckn rat' and a 'cheat' cause he got a couple decisions wrong against us...

I'm not bothering with you any more, take a last swipe like I know you will...

To say they cheat does not do you any favours. They make mistakes and some yesterday were howlers. It did not cost us a win. We are not good enough yet. Take the advice offered - when local footy starts again, put your hand up and umpire. It is not an easy task.

Firstly, posters have also suggested we were robbed in the Port game, thankfully you don't seem to hold that view

As for the 2 gifted goals that assisted WCto go on a 42 point turnaround which ones were they?

The main one was was Ryan caught dead drops the ball when we were 13 points up, 1 goal into their comeback. We should have had a free kick at CHB, instead they get a goal.
Straight after that, Samo's second free against, and there is all your momentum.
Sure you can argue that the second Samo one was there, but that's not how it was paid throughout the game.

And spare me the 'undisciplined 50'. Do not be ridiculous.

Because it's unfair.

Deep down, Aussies love the underdog. It takes a bit to get them there, but because everyone's suddenly jumped on 'The frees given against Carlton were the worst' - not just Carlton supporters, but the media, other supporters, etc - you've got some of us and ours reacting to that.

They're not wrong, but nor are the people who think that the umpiring was the worst (well, they are: the worst umpiring ever occurred on the 17th of September, 2011). People innately get the sense that, when something is so one-sided and so insistent, there's something else going on.
