You should spend more time in the Game Day & Autopsy threads.

I certainly won't be naming names but most around these parts know who the 'negative nellies' are.

They only appear to dig the boots into the players & the Club.
Makes you wonder why they arnt supporting wichmun isn't that what their famous for ..

Great win by our boys.

Credit to Gibbs with a powerhouse performance. Games like that make you want him to stay.

Really liked the games of Marchbank, Jones, Docherty, Fisher (who will eventually get the possessions as well), Silver, and Lamb.

Unlike others, wasn't overly impressed with Boek as I thought he would show more than what he did. He is on last chance but i'm sure will get another shot this week. Kcked a nice goal for us early when we weren't converting so did contribute.

Liked Cunners game as well but he drifted out of it in the 3rd when they got momentum. Think this is due more to playing a fwd role than anything else.

Some real likely types for our future.

Go blues.

The way I see this match unfolding, we need more than normal to slow them down.

Their best football is played fast, moving from end to end via playing on, over and over; think the same way GC play, but a bit more team oriented. If they are allowed to play that way - by us forfeiting the midfield battle, as we did against GWS - then even with our backline functioning well, we'll lose.

Their forward half is designed for quick entries; if they can force them, then the sheer amount of smalls creates uncertainty and pressure in defenders.

Most of the year, they've won the midfield battle early, and have gotten out to leads early, which is okay for us; they're plenty complacent when they get five/six goals in front. However, we need to equal their efforts through the middle over the course of the match to beat them; if they get on top early, we then have to wrest control back.

If we can make them stop, switch, and switch again from the get go, we're well on our way to winning the match. If we outnumber Riewoldt at the fall of the ball, then those smalls become almost irrelevant.

I'm still hesitant to pick us to win; fresh off a loss, one that stung, and finals on the line for them. We're certainly better lead, on and off the field. I think they're probably going to get up, by about fifteen points, after we control substantial amounts of the match but run out of legs. If it's close late, I expect them to "show maturity" and to have "learnt how to close out games"; their run at the end of matches has to end some time, and it'd be just our luck.

But realistically, they're gettable. We'd have to have a day out, though.

Edit: it appears I've put this in the wrong thread.

not even sure we need to have a day out. you could see how much we have improved from the first gold coast clash to the second. first time out v richmond we were terrible defensively now thats a strength. we are a real live chance.

Was away over the weekend, so watched the replay last night.

The win was just as impressive as the previous week, if not better.

Jones, Doc & Simpson, were simply outstanding, along with solid contributions by the rest of the defensive crew.

Gibbs, was a constant, hard at it, with his elite skills on show, especially that second goal.

Fisher is a beauty, another couple of preseasons and he will be a star. Despite perhaps needing some more grippo, his hands were sensational in traffic, shooting out handballs. At one stage he was in a marking contest with Barlow at the last line of defense and he battled hard against a bigger body to bring the ball to ground. Impressive

I feel Charlie is not far away from having a break out game. Just needs to stay in the moment longer, for all four quarters.

Jack continues to reaffirm what we all know, he is a future leader of our club

Casboult was criticised unfairly by some. The conditions were slippery and trying. Yes he dropped a chest mark and missed an easy close-in shot at goal, sure Lynch suffered from the same. Casboult's work ethic was by far best afield for any KPF, if he continues that, I have no doubt he will have better days, kicking wise.

Some of our players need to stay in the game, giving up a lead is one thing, but it is what they do from that moment on.

As a team perspective, it has been at least 15 years since I have witnessed that level of intensity, hunger and toughness in our side.

Well done Doc, Gibbsy, Simmo & Liam - AFL Team Of The Week!

http://www.afl.com.au/news/2017-06-20/team-of-the-week-r13-did-we-get-it-right

LIAM JONES (Carlton): Completely blanketed Gold Coast's Tom Lynch. The Suns co-captain has kicked 27 goals for the season but was kept to just one behind and 10 touches by the Blues' forward-turned-defender.

SAM DOCHERTY (Carlton): Another player we love here at Team of the Week. The in-form Blue had 30 disposals (the third game running he's reached 30), took nine marks and blitzed the Suns with 585m gained.

KADE SIMPSON (Carlton): Was impossible to split Simpson and Docherty so they're both in. Had 33 disposals, six rebounds and a whopping round-high 14 intercept possessions.

BRYCE GIBBS (Carlton): A standout the entire game and a huge influence in Carlton's win over Gold Coast. Finished the game with 43 touches, 10 tackles, eight marks, 800m gained (the most of the round) and two crucial goals in the final term. The ultimate performance.
