Parsons has been offered 2 weeks, menegola been offered 1. Parsons about right. Menegola very stiff.
Parsons should accept that penalty in a nanosecond.

Yeah it's initially 2 weeks down to 1 with an early plea. I think the fact it's graded as 'medium' impact and not 'low' is what's done him in. Probably no real grounds to challenge, not that we would anyway.I think the Menegola 1 week suspension is very harsh.
Would he face extra week if he challenges?

For what it's worth I think Menegola got 1 week too many and Parsons 1 week short, so we take the MRP combo-deal and move on.
No argument there, just as a side note and a pity I don't have replays anymore but I reckon I saw an elbow flashed that missed fortunately in the first half and I'm pretty sure it was the same culprit, now I'm hoping I'm not doing him an injustice but he might have some work to do in that area.Parsons should accept that penalty in a nanosecond.
His arms weren't even pinned if I remember correctly, but they see head hitting turf and they take it as an opportunity to make a statement. It's more just bad luck than undisciplined, which makes it a bit annoying to see blokes missing games for.Agree with what you say.
It just doesnt sit well with me that Menegola will miss a game because od that incident.
Once a good bloke always a good bloke. It sucks even more because nobody doubts Hodge would have got away with both.
Parsons "deserves" 2 weeks but it should've been graded as careless, not intentional.

You're right, but you need to watch Gibson in that situation, going back a few years possible even before this shepherding the mark he cleaned up Selwood twice in one game ball watching as we were running it out, it's done with intent and purpose. In his current form, it'd be more of a punishment for Hawthorn to force them to play Gibson for 2 weeks.

I really love his kicking. A lot of penetration from a standing start and we got at least 2 goals from it yesterday, not including the bullet pass to Hawkins in the last.Yep. Sling tackles aren't seen in a good light. He'll have to cop it unfortunately.
I'm just hoping he comes straight back in. He's already proven what a boneheaded decision it was to not play him from the start.
What I think is a positive is it gets players in other sides thinking there is some aggression and push back in this Geelong side,a bit like the Yanks now they have moved from Obama to Trump the opposition will be a little more on edge.I don't mind seeing a dirty player get a taste of his own medicine.
Let's be serious for a minute mate, Gibson's bump was to Ruggles' chest ... Ruggles hit his head on the ground when he landed. The way they described the provisions and rules for the MRP on AFL 360 last night, it seemed this would happen. I was of the belief if you elected to bump and collected the head, then the onus was on you. Apparently it's still that but if you make contact to the head that you tried to avoid, you're all right. Because we need more shades of grey in tribunal/umpiring/mrp decisions...

If we're suspending players for that the game's in trouble.
http://www.afl.com.au/video/2017-04-17/ruggles-struggling-from-gibson-clashWhen his head hit the ground, the blood must have splashed up on to Gibson's head.
Parson's looked like his uncle Stephen with that elbow.
For those who don't remember Steve Parsons or were not born at the time, the Richmond 5 gamer is famous for this incident at Windy Hill. He also played for the VFA Geelong West Roosters in 1979.
So why did Gibson get bandaged on his head?http://www.afl.com.au/video/2017-04-17/ruggles-struggling-from-gibson-clash
Watch it as many times as you want but the bump was to the chest.
