Hav will stay. We were probably offering him 500-600k previously.
He's worth 800, other clubs were most likely offering him more.
We need to pay up bigtime if we are to keep him, will be a genuine A grade elite talent captain material.
Can't let players like him walk out, you just can't.

Assuming Martin comes as a free agent and we get market value or above for Lever and Gov I could stomach it.

If we get ripped off on either trade though, which we will, I'd still be pretty gutted at gaining one piece to lose 2 others.
If we don't, force them to the PSD and trade our 3rd rounder to Brissy for their first PSD pick.

Most club supporters think their players will stay until they leave.

At the Adelaide Crows, supporters think players are gone until they stay.

That's the damage Dangerfield, Gunston, Tippett, Bock and Davis did

Except for Jenkins.. I would have bet my house on him staying because I wanted to trade him for Rockliff.

Walker and Sloane will be disappointed if they re-negotiate their contract for unders then everyone leaves + we go Organic Growth 2.0 in trade week

Lever for Gibbs and their first rounder.

How about Lever and our 2017 1st for Gibbs, their 2017 1st, and their 2018 1st.
I'd do that. Scarily that moves me from Denial to negotiation.

Come on people - seriously. Would you walk into a meeting at your work and say, im completely happy here, no chance im going to leave even if you offer me crap money.

Imo, Lever already said too much and probably got a chippy slap from his manager.
SPP did. Why don't people leave port?

Here are some direct quotes from the interview. In fact everything relating to his contract:

Does the CBA being done mean you can now open up discussions:

"Yep. Is the CBA done is it Bicks? ...nah I think that now the CBA is done... I heard Josh on radio last week say I can't use that excuse anymore... I haven't been using that as an excuse, I think now the CBA is done I can definitely sit down; my manager is coming over tomorrow and I'm sure we'll sit down with the club whenever that is... in the near future. But I think the expectation of everything was once the CBA is done, everything... everyone was going to get signed. I don't even think it was just me. I think everyone assumed Gov was going to be signed, that sort of stuff. But I think obviously with Tex signing, they sat down with him... the club's got to find time for everyone so after I speak to my manager tomorrow, I'm sure contract negotiations will continue."

So up until this point, you two (Lever and his manager) haven't chatted

"I think you do speak about it Rowe, but probably not in the depth it has to be. Because in the end it's a life decision; it's a really important decision. So... probably just passing comments or little chats, but now we know what everything looks like... and the club have a clearer picture, we can now sit down tomorrow and have a really really good conversation about it"

Has the club made an offer?

"No, but that's my doing, and my manager's doing, we sort of didn't want to weigh anything, so I think once we sit down tomorrow and then speak to the club whenever that is, I'm sure something will get tabled."

What about other clubs?

"Well there's nothing been done yet so I'm not really sure Rowe, there's always media hype and that sort of stuff but in the end I'm playing for the Adelaide Crows at the minute, and I'm focused on this week of football. In a sense I've had to take a backseat almost (goes on to talk about how he reads the media a lot)"

Would you rather it done sooner than later, end of story?

"Yeah, I think, sooner rather than later, but then in the end, it's a discussion with both myself, my partner, the club and my manager and working something out. But if it's not in the near future, I wouldn't be worrying about anything like that"

That's all
I didn't hear it but that didn't sound too bad.

Lots of talk about talking to the club. Nothing like saying he's waiting until the end of the year which is usually the sign.

Haha, nice one - for a serious response, he is on his first year of a 2 year contract - I imagine they tabled him an offer that is probably fairly attractive (assumed) for a player of his experience.

Here it is folks

Lever to Melbourne for a top 5 pick (let them work out how they're going to get it)
Gov to Freo for Neale (maybe we offer some garnish)
Our first and second to Carlton for Gibbs and their third
Sign Mackie as a FA for 2 years, to cover Lever leaving with a coaching gig tacked on

Gain:
Gibbs
Neale
Mackie
Pick 5 (Fogarty)
Round 3 (Edwards F/S)

Lose:
Lever
Gov
Round 1
Round 2

If he was going to leave then saying he was going to put it off till the end of the year would create more talk about him leaving. He doesnt want that either.
Everything I heard from him was stalling tactics.

He will sign within the month or he won't at all

Well at least he wants to sit down and talk to the club.
That at the minute comment is very concerning though
