1 year above 6th in 10 years, we haven't been winning that many! :p :D

Not sure we've made as many finals series as they have recently either
Theyve made 2 finals series in 15 years

If Lever leaves, then Pyke looks like a total muppet after his comments.
Wouldn't be the first time someone at the AFC has looked like a muppet after making public list management statements

"The extra examination is really because what this whole situation throws up is doubt and we want to eliminate doubt,''

"We've invited the AFL to send in their forensic guys, work through the whole lot and make sure, so that at the end of it, we can sit there and we can say 'right, everything is clear'.'

Because I wasn't already angry enough at the club today.. you have to go and bring up Trigg.

Who of us would knock back $100-200k /year? If Jake wants to go its his decision and impacts his future. I would be disappointed but not hold it against him for improving his lot. As a club we need to make the best of it.
2 high first round picks or similar/player. We cant get in a bidding war as it impacts other deals.Jake can be replaced, we have done it over and over.

I don't know but we did the same with Gibbs and that didn't go so well. Let's just wait and see if he signs in the next 2-3 weeks. I think if it gets to the end of the season he's gone.

Completely different situation. With Gibbs the Crows had to appease Carlton as he was contracted to them and they wanted the earth for him. That was why it fell over.

If Gibbs was not contracted the deal would have been done or he would have just walked to the Crows for free.

The common theam with all successful (by this I mean consistently at the top or winning multiple premierships) is that players make sacrifices by taking less pay.

This holds true if they're already at the club or being traded to the club.

Players who go to the highest bidder need to think do I want just money, or do I want success. By taking the greatest amount of cash they are reducing the chance that the club they're at (and themselves) will have success.

Players also need to remember the halo effect of being at a successful club. Do people really think Lingy or Brian Lake would have media jobs if they didn't win a premiership or two.

Sacrifice now can pay off later.

Purely a hypothetical

In a worst case scenario, if Jake wants to go back to Melbourne, Gov to Perth, Dusty, Fyfe, Kelly, Hopper, Gibbs et al don't come to the AFC.
If Campo & Clarke resign in their assistant roles.
We continue with organic growth and taking all of our picks to the draft.
Will the AFC lose membership?
Will the rank and file membership base continue to be happy with the club and keep filling the AO next year?

I'm guessing you're a glass half empty kinda guy?

"We will negotiate the appropriate deal and hopefully get that done soon." - the most encouraging Pykism yet.

It comes right after "Jake wants to be at the footy club, we want Jake to be at the footy club,"

Try not to kid yourselves. If Lever goes, it will be because of the truck load of money the AFC won't match.
