Now that the dust has settled slightly, what should we expect from the great man.In my view if we get more than 6 good games from him it will be a bonus.
This may be the difference in making finals or not.So the gamble would have been worth it.
Big question marks over his hammy and lack of match fitness will be a major concern.

However, his footy influence on the younger brigade and any mark he may leave on their improvement may outweigh his on field talents.

Time will tell....:thumbsu:

cant believe the amount of people going onabout his hamstrings.

its been around 15 months since he did his hamstring its recovered & rested like no other hamstring ever has.
the way people are going on about it , its like he is a cripple.

if we are so worried send him to dr clause or whatever his name is & get some calf blood into him.

apparently he tore his hammy of the bone..like tearing flesh off a drumstick with your teeth...hopefully his hammy is better, otherwise he may have to do 10 meter sprints with crutches...

mathew lloyd did the same thing & nathan buckley as well from memory
it takes longer to recover but like around 3-4 months thae guy hasnt played for 15 months that hammy should be welded onto the bone by know,

I do believe buckley had continual problems with his hammy.

He has 3-4 years left in him.....he went 110% to prove a point causing those hammys to go before he was ready (and thats the only way he knows being so competitive).

If we can ease him in during the NAB cup, he will be right to go for a full season from R1 IMHO.

So our expectations should be similar N. Foley..

ie: 30+ disp as part of the midfield rotation...

The expectations of him being able to stay to his strict lifestyle obligations as part of his contract conditions I am much less confident of. If he has turned the leaf though and can become a 'born again drug/party free I will leave and breathe only football', I expect a 90% version of the old Ben Cousins!

But on skill alone, he has the ability obviously to be like N>Brown and win games off his own boot...so if he does this once or twice next season....for the very last pick....we have scored a bargain!

When you break a bone, the bone gets stronger. Once you tear a hammy, they never get stronger, that's why people with hammy problems get worse as they go on. Doesn't matter how much time goes by.

...after he won a Brownlow despite being older than what Cousins is now.

Bucks' problems started when he was 33/34 - Cousins has 2-3 superstar years left in him if he is to follow in Buckley's path.

Realistic expectation is that he will be delisted by Richmond or deregistered by the AFL before round 1.

Idealistic expectation, should finish in the top 8 of our B&F if he can play 14+ games. (which will become the realistic expectation if he is still on the list by round 1.)

More details Crumden please.
Can you paint us the scenario on your 'Realistic expectation' possiblity?
Don't agree or disagree.
Just curious.

Speaking of flesh off a drumstick. I'm hungry for some KFC.

Anyway, I expect Cousins to stay out of the limelight. The moment after his rehab documentary airs on TV, I expect RFC to lock him up in the attic and release him when he has to train or play a game.

My Expectations:
  • Be a good onfield mentor for the younger Tigers
  • Stay clean (to a lesser degree)
Him getting back into form would be a fantastic bonus and would increase his impact on the younger generation.

he has a lot to prove, if his body holds up (which i think it will) he will play a major part in our on field revolution. and if he doesnt how many goals do you think he would kick as a semi permanent half forward? i would hazard quite a few.

play him for 50% of game time and he should still get 20 odd touches. If he needs to be rested for the odd game then rest him we have the depth there.

looking for somewhere to make my first post and this looks like a likely spot

...and no, i am not here because of the Cousins bandwagon......back in 1980 i jumped on a bandwagon....and we all know the rest

i am here because i love the Richmond Football Club...warts and all

..the Ben Cousins decision to me was the best and most gutsy move we have made for many a long year

....my expectations of Cousins is that he will train, he will play, he will get hurt occasionally, just like every other player in the AFL....the difference is that when he does train and when he does play he will run and run and run...and then run some more, long past when the hurt sets in.........and very soon all of our young tigers will be running with him

....and then we will see a glorious new chapter written in our history

Welcome Bluey.
But you don't write like a 28+ person ?????
Keep up the positive thoughts. Not too much though.
The last guy (Sass) was run out of town!
Cheers
(& grow a thick skin fast. This is the Tiger's den. Except for Fish)
