So Laura Kane could have a standalone AFLW game that no one will watch.

Woke.

So by your definition, you are “anti-woke”.

So, asleep. Eyes shut, completely ignorant of what is happening around you, making a whole lot of body noises that people find offensive, and when you eventually do wake up you wonder where the hell everyone else is, and then take advantage of all the things people have done who were actually awake.

Explains a lot.

Why don't they start the AFLW season after the grand final? Because it'll get too hot late in the season?
Pretty sure the AFLW didn't want to be overshadowed by, or just some sort of 'curtain raiser' competition for, the men.

But if their season was played totally outside the regular men's AFL times, it would run into summer when it's too hot.

So they've ended up with this weird hybrid fixture running from August to November....where the first half of the season is going to be completely overlooked due to men's finals, but hoping it will pick up big time after September as footy fans search for something to get their fix.

If you start it now it will be overshadowed. They shouldve still had it start after September. At this stage a two month season is still probably the best imo.

Plus there's a good chance even less people would watch it. If it ran from October-November that isn't too hot.

No shit.

Makes sense for some clear air to launch the season. Catch as many people you can at the start, then whatever the percentage they stay hooked, you'll have a bigger number overall. Makes sense.

Much has been spoken about dwindling crowds but the quality of the games getting better. I watched Carl v Coll last night (after not watching much women's footy in years) and thought the quality was good. We just need to play it on smaller grounds so we can get bigger scores. That's the final piece to the puzzle I recon.

OP expecting men’s Thursday Night Footy every week is a born yesterday tantrum.

When AFLW began there were only a handful of men’s TNF games on the fixture. Even last season it was just Friday after R13. Being aghast at a single week minus men’s TNF is as untraditional as it gets.
