The club has said it. But how does it happen, trade out players for picks? Downgrade 1st round picks for lower picks and players?
Who is best oversee the club while it happens?
What club has done it best?

Im actually suprised at how good the bombers have done it. A few years ago I thought their list was complete junk but it doesnt seem to be

The first step is to finish low this year so we can add some top end young talent through the draft (plan enacted and working beaautifully so far).

Also need to possibly trade for some extra 1st or 2nd round picks somehow, not sure what trade value some of our blokes have but Kreuzer and Henderson will be keenly sought after by some clubs, not sure who else would be though at this stage, perhaps Walker ??

Urgh! We are so crap that we almost have to start again, from the top down. Coaches, recruitment staff, development staff, the whole lot. There seems to be fundamental structural issues at the moment, particularly in List Management (already addressed with SOS), recruiting (still needs to be sorted out - no head recruiter), development (we have none) and coaching (our entries into the forward 50 have no structure and are hopeless and have been for years).

Then we need to trade for picks, even if it means giving up someone good to get good picks and we need to develop and show patience. Most importantly we need buy in from the playing group, and we need a more extroverted group of players. Stuff this rebuild up and it's ANOTHER 10 years to wait.

In short it's a monumental task that essentially requires the complete rebuilding of the club, not just drafting in a couple of kids over the next couple of years.

Not much bloody point getting the players in if we can't develop them (i.e. look at Melbourne over the last few years). We need to make sure we have the right coaching and development people in place too. Not pointing fingers necessarily at our current mob - if they can do the job, great, if not, get people in that can.

Have heard the club is looking at a 66 game or 3 seasons rebuild.
They want to maximise as many early picks during that period so a core group of players can grow together.
Expect experienced players with currency to be traded out for high picks.
In SOS we trust

Granted we need as many early picks as possible but can we please somehow get Hoskin Elliot to the club ? The guy is a freak, line breaker and can kick long goals on the run ! He's a legit star in the making

This sounds like the StKilda model. Tough road ahead I guess. Who wold you say are non tradable players? ..cause odds are they are the ones you would get the most for.

There's a first time for everything. We side-stepped the re-build for a recycle under Pagan. We went half re-build, half trade under Ratten. Under MM we've gone 2 years of replenish/rejuvenate and now finally re-build. I guess we keep an eye on possible 'unders' acquisitions like Doc, I doubt the Treloars or Shiels are likely to be value priced. Help out any disillusioned amongst our own if moving on is their wish, and hope for that dream draft that we've been waiting for since 1986.

Anther rebuild? Haven't we had enough, we seem to be rebuilding every year, or in the middle of one.

Walker looked close to tears in his post match interview.

I'd rather keep guys like him who run their guts out for Carlton and trade guys like Gibbs atm.

Ideally we would maintain a strong senior core while giving the kids plenty of protection and games. Murphy, Gibbs, Henderson and Jamison look unreliable at the moment though.

Turned over half the list since 2013 and our younger talent is slowing getting better.

And yet we aren't playing them, Buckley etc haven't had a look in, Byrne showed what a young man can do, played with heart and passion in 1 quarter, than a lot of the senior players, they should be ashamed, but I don't think they are.

Cripps and Docherty for starters.

Who know's if we'd bite to a Menzel offer considering the talk he might leave. Same with Henderson... in fact in the paper it was said Geelong lead the race just ahead of Brisbane for him?

This year looks like a very good draft. Way better talent at the top end and much deeper.

Looks like we will need quite a few picks in this years draft.

With 3 father sons to add into draft calculations also.

I think firstly a new coach is a must, I don't think Malthouse is the man for the ride, I would like the club to go out and find our very own Ken Hinkley.

Secondly there would be only a handful of "untouchables" and they would be Menzel, Docherty, Jacksh, Henderson, Cripps and Yarran. The rest can go at the right price. I would like the club to trade aggressively for some first round draft picks by putting up guys like Murphy, Kruezer and even Jamison. These players I feel carry a fair amount of currency and could fetch us a good trade.

This is in no way bagging those players mentioned for trade but building for the future.

I don't really want us to be trading picks for players (ala the McLean trade) let's have faith in our recruiting team led by SOS.

The Club has designed and entitled culture where too few are paid too much and deliver too little. Modern AFL is about 20-30 committed team mates playing for each other and earning similar cash. Only true match winners earn significantly more. We are paying match winning cash - to proven losers - this has to stop and stop fast - there has to be an eradication.

That would be step one - take a pay cut and get back in line with your team mates- or you will be traded - for whatever. Easy.

Step 2 would be replacing Malthouse with a dour task master who insists on certain on field standards and insists on recruiting competitive players and developing mongrel as well as class. A much more complex decision.

Step three will be doing time and continually culling under performers every year whilst drafting well and developing well. that step is even harder.

However - where we are and have been for too long is in a state of denial and Stockholm syndrome - captive to BS and selfish grasping individualisms.

How dare Malthouse announce to the world that he has concerns over his assistant coaches and believes that free agents wont come to Carlton - how dare he state this stuff publicly? He can go and go fast - the faster the better and all players devoted to his selfishisms - can go with him.

I find it really hard to argue with Crippa here

I couldn't imagine any of our supporters would like to see blokes gifted games, but when you see blokes like Buckley, Graham and Whiley picking up 30 possessions and then not getting a look in when our senior players are allowed to stink it up in front of everyone on Friday night football, then I'm questioning if the current man is the man to take us forward in this rebuild.
That same man said in a press conference that Levi Casboult wouldn't get a game u til his form warranted it, next week he got a call up after a pretty piss poor performance in a praccy match. This man is desperate and coaching for his career and that is why you won't see guys like graham played.
