I don't watch AFL but this Lowden doesn't seem to have done much in 5 seasons
He's no Angus Milham, that's for sure!

Collingwood's American import Mason Cox (named as an emergency this week) is listed at 211 cm.

Cox is 211.4cm, can't find more accurate figures for Sandilands, but articles from Cox's draft combine say Cox is slightly taller. They could just be going off the less precise 211cm though.

Most articles give Korcheck's height as 208cm. Rory Lobb, Sam Naismith and Zac Smith are all listed at 206cm.

Some tallish South Australian based players

These are from Dion Haymans 1990 book
Neil Hein 200cm Glenelg (SA)
Andrew Pascoe 198cm Glenelg (SA)
Damien Murray 199cm West Adelaide(SA)
Chris Lindsay 206cm West Torrens
Romano Negri 206cm Woodville( SA ), North Hobart (TAS)

these are mostly 1970s/80s players
Richard Lounder 203cm Central District, Richmond
Michael Hamill 6ft 5 West Torrens, P.Adelaide
Peter Carey 6ft.5 (Glenelg)
Dexter Kennedy 6ft 5 and a 1/2 West Adelaide, P.Adelaide
Robert "Sticks" Dolan 6t 6 P.Adelaide , Norwood
Hein and Pascoe were both from Norwood. Hein played for the Brisbane Bears. Pascoe was on Collingwood's list for a few years but not sure if he played a game for them. Negri played a few games for the Crows in 1991-92.

Good list but I thought I'd add those.

Fiddian's Yarraville book (where eagles flew)
mentions a Bruce "the Frog" Riches playing for Yarraville in 1977
ex Thomson in the Geelong league
could be the son of Ted Riches (Geelong reserves) - both Timber cutters

3aw book list has a Yarraville player B.Riches 209cm tall (1982 - different playing date)
Bruce 'Frog' Riches was a great friend of my Fathers. He suffered from the 'giantus' syndrome, thus making his hands, head and feet much larger than the average man. In his younger days, well before he played for Yarraville in 77, In 71, 72 he played with local club Thomson, and one training night he was weighed and measured standing up 'straight' as on field he had a 'stoop' due to his rolled shoulders. Well this night he was measured at 215 cms or 7 foot 2 and he weighed 142 kgs or 22 stone 4 pounds. He was an absolute Giant of a man. Sadly he passed away in 2016.

State touring sides of the 1890s - both were quite tall, the tallest anything up to 6ft.9'

Jarrod Witts is now with Gold Coast BTW.

Like so much of what we do, there is an element of historical perspective here.*

People in the early 1900s did not grow as tall as people we get now due to dietary, social, work related factors.

So I would be surprised if there were a lot of early players here.

*Similar to the debate over games records where in previous seasons teams played significant fewer home and away games in a season.

The 3aw book (Atkinson) says that in 1972 Richmond signed a former US basketballer Tom Bender (213cm)
and he played in practice games. A Tom Bender played basketball for Aust. in the 1972 Olympics
Any truth to the Richmond PGs?
