DUDS WHO WONT BE HERE IN 2005
Rogers - retired
D. Kellaway (not really a dud) - retired
Houlihan
Pettifer
Nicholls
Fletcher

i prefer we go after youngsters this year.we have got 2 top class recruits over the past 2yrs[sugar and brown].
we recruited both gilmour and jackson who both could have gone top 20 this year.
in theory we would then fast track our youth policy with 4 players within the top 20.
our 1st pick target should be a kpp[backman] to be groomed for gasper or Ak,s possie.
2nd rnd pick a midfielder to replace cambo or a ruckman to replace staff.

cheers!

I agree that this should be our priority and we should look at picking up kids with our draft picks.

While it was necessary to pick up some quality like Johnson and Brown to be competitive in the short to medium term (and therefore possibly keep the club going) , we now have to build for the longer term as well. If we keep going looking for established players this will just keep salary cap pressure on and make it harder to keep our own players, such as cogs.

Ottens, I imagine, would already be on a fairly lucrative contract and we should be able to sign him without too much extra pain to the TPP (short of the breakout year we hope from and expect of him this year). Cogs, on the other hand, will have risen in stocks since his last contract. In both cases, I hope the club re-signs them before getting caught up in bidding wars with other clubs.

Having said that, however, the club would be negligent not to at least look at any quality players that may become available.

Power and Soloman both re-signed at the end of the year. I assume they re-signed on multi-year contracts. Don't know what the contractual situation with the other two is.

Could not have said it better! We must look long term now and go for kids.

We definatly have to go for Travis Cloke. He can play back or Ruck i have heard. I Think that we need another class midfielder and another tall back. Midfielders we have god that are young are: Coughlan, Newman, Foley, Gilmour, Roach, Raines, Hyde, Krakouer, Rodan etc. I will do our side for the future.

B: Zantuck Moore Weller
HB: Hartigan Cloke Hall
C: Gilmour Krakouer Roach
HF: Foley Morrison Tuck
FF: Dragga Shultz Jackson
Foll: Ottens Newman Rodan
Int: Archibald, Hyde, Pettifer (Finally Developed), Raines

Thats not looking to bad. I suppose.

But seriously. Rogers and D.Kellaway has gotta go. Nicholls,Pettifer,Houlihan and hilton are all on their last straw.
