yes but the call and footage should be reviewed by the "third umpire" after being referred by a field umpire

IMO if they include a 'red card' rule, they must consult with the third umpire as well as multiple camera angles. It might slow the game down too much however.
If I were to point out a 'red card' system that -might- work for the AFL, it would be something like the NBA's foul system. Taking time to review it with all of the umpires and officials talking it over, watching the footage, etc. Such a thing would be incredibly difficult to do in the AFL, though, unfortunately, and someone making a snap judgement on the ground could never work.

Um I assume you are referring to his hit in the 2004 GF which Brisbane lost anyway
Correct. the only way too stop players running past the ball, also make the ball round so the bounce is predictable minimising the angles players run so there is no unnecessary contact..
Moronic and idiotic suggestion ...just watch how many frees the inept umpires hand out for players getting taken high after ducking into tackles ...they can't even get that right ...let alone allowing them to send players off the ground
May saw an opportunity to take out Martin (Brisbane's most important player), and he taken that opportunity. I don't think Ablett's push helped Stefin, because without the push, it would've been a regularly hip and shoulder. Martin couldn't prepare himself, I don't necessarily think May should be hung out to dry. Regardless, I thought May made the right decision.
Yes, I'd like a send off rule. Based on video review. Only for hits deemed serious and intentional.

Just keep in mind though that it's a fairly instinctive thing to jump when about to make contact like that. Also when you're about to hit a bloke that's 8cm taller than you it's in your mind that your head is the more likely to be hit, so you'd be inclined to jump for self preservation. I don't think May intended to concuss him. But yeah the whole package combined sould get him a few weeks off. I just don't see the level of intent of others around here.
As I read this, nice blue going on in the Bullies game. Few yellow cards maybe.

That was so far out of the spirit of the game that the campaigner should have been taken away in a paddy wagon.
