Official Playstation Magazine has given the game a 10 out of 10.

Gonna be SO cash

Yeah, I'm sure there was some kind of dodgy done.

The last time there were such early reviews of a game before all the other reviews came out was with Batman: AA. I'm such Rockstar has done the same deal. Give the game a guaranteed 9+ out of 10 and you can print a review before anyone else.

Batman: AA was a great game so in the end it didn't matter and I'm pretty sure this will be the same.

Yeah from the GTAIV reviews seems it got a bit higher then what it actually was.

I don't know why you would have to dodgy up reviews to a game that has generated so much interest and hype and from everything released so far looks like it will be killer.

The real test comes with your average gamer, not reviews anyway. Sure, a lot of us have pre-ordered it, but there will be a lot of people who are waiting for it to be played by friends or forum members and ask them whether it is good not to mention the thousands of user reviews that will spring up over night when it is released.

One dodgy OMG THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME THAT WILL EVER BE CREATED review will not make or break this game, we as gamers will.

It's the way it has always been.

Reviewers are still gamers though and the fact remains that if you're getting 10/10's and 9.5/10's coming out before your game does then people can have their mind made up by then and not wait until everyone plays it and gives their own opinions.

I agree that it won't make a ton of people turn their heads and go "WOW I'M SO GETTING THAT NOW BECAUSE GAME INFORMER GAVE IT A 9.75!!!" but some will and it at least gives those who are unsure about it a reason to pick it up day 1 and not give a chance to have them wait and wait and wait until they might potentially forget about it. And from Rockstar's point of view, IF (BIG IF) the game is no good at least they get that first day sale before word gets around and people drop off.

Also for this specific game, as a Western game of which there are so few out. There's no real precedence on whether this genre sells well or not, so if there are great reviews it could sway those who don't particularly think the Western genre is for them and give it a go.

I understand what you are saying HBK, but Rockstar have put a lot of money into this project and they will not make it all back in pre-sales. They have to have made a great game for it to be successful, not dodgy up reviews.

As for your other point about Westerns, that is spot on. There really hasn't been a game like this that has been anywhere close to decent. People love Westerns in the movies/tv, can only see love for this game if it turns out to be as good as people think it will be.

It does make you wonder why western games havn't really been tried that much, like you said western movies/tv usually have a fair following so it would make sense that the games maket would have a following also.

I'm of the belief that video game hype is usually valid and very rarely does a disapointing game come out the other side. Scribblnauts is an exception.

It could be dodgy marketing tactics but most big games IGN/gamespot etc hype up really are great games.

GTA4 is slightly overrated but still a very good game.

GTA IV was the most overrated game I've ever played. I couldn't even finish it, it was the boring.

How it stands on 98/100 on MetaCritic is beyond me.

I respectfully disagree in that it wasn't that bad.

However it doesn't deserved to be talked about amongst the greatest games of all time which imo are Mario 64, Zelda OOT, even GTA 3 (whichever one of the 3 you think is the best).

Early games of a new generation tend to be overrated.

I also don't rate metascore at all. Especially where they give reviews that give something 5/5 a 100% score where if they were scoring out of 100 they may have only given around 90/100.

I agree. Don't think it was that bad (I did play it twice:o).

But nowhere near the best of all time (GTA: Vice City for me).

GTA: Eps from Liberty City has got off to a good start so far from what I'm on. Feels more like a throwback.

I'm watching a live stream ATM moment and all I can say is..

FUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUuu

The guy playing isn't doing any missions he's just mucking around so no spoilers. The physics are great - he shot a guy in the shoulder and he spun around 90 degrees, then he shot him in the knee and the guy fell clutching at it while still shooting with his free hand

Later he went to a saloon and lassoed a prostitute, picked her up and took her to his room. He tried to buttrape her but it didn't work so he shot her in teh face and felt the rath of the local police

The stream is a little grainy so it's hard to say how good the graphics are but it looks to be a big upgrade on GTA4, particularly in regard to the draw distance

Its a massive improvement on GTA 4. RAGE was made for this game!

One of my mates while we were playing lassoed a dude, pulled him along behind the horse, tied him to the railroad tracks just in time for him to be run over by a train. There was an almighty red splash!

This sort of stuff will lead me to spending a lot of time stuffing around. A bit like the simple but insanely fun act of throwing people in Saints Row 2.

Have played, is great. Skinning animals FTW
Is the skinning something you see or is it just an off screen thing then you get the pelt?

HAHA YES! Made 10 times better by the fact that they measure the distance thrown. Going to the highest bridge and piffing someone off is pure awesome.:thumbsu:

Sounds like a lot of fun actually. Might get on. When's it out?

This thursday.........although if you haven't pre-ordered it you might be SOL.

It's actually out Friday. There will be plenty of copies on launch day. Running out of stock on a massive game just does not happen anymore. It took me 3 months (yes including Xmas) to run out of MW2 stock for the first time and i run one of the busiest stores in the country

You get a close up of Marston's face and some blood splatter as he digs his knife in and about. You see the animal sans skin after though.

Yeah it's out on the 21st which....is....a....friday....oops, my bad.

Maybe you are a smart man and have heaps of copies on order but the amount of times the stores near me run out of copies of popular games is beyond staggering. They have no idea about stock control.

I don't order my stock, it gets allocated from my DC. Maybe we have smart people in our organisation...

Normally shop at Penrith JB. Never seem to run out of copies on most games. Might pick it up next week anyway, see how i go!

Roughly how many copies did your store have for MW2?
