My next hunting challenge is to knife 2 COUGARS.

They are the ****ing scariest things I've seen in games. They come out of nowhere and you don't have time to switch your weapons. If you don't kill them straight away you are dead if you're on foot. If you're on horseback and not going full tilt your horse will die.
This challenge was a pain. Not the fact that Cougars are difficult to kill, but the fact that I couldn't find the 2nd one to save my life. Anyways, try using Deadeye and shooting their legs twice. They usually flee after that so get ready to mash X like you've never mashed before :p

P.S - I swear this game knows what animals your hunting and doesn't spawn them

Took forever to find 5 rabbits, since I've completed that stage of the challenge I see up to 5 rabbits every time I ride between settlements.
I was doing that challenge and I shot a rabbit with my double barrelled shotty and gave him another one to make sure he was dead. Shouldn't have done that as I blew him to pieces and he disappeared. Oops.

My game like lags in single player :| sometimes when im running or riding it like goes slow mo and crap and it freezes in the middle of Mexico missions happened 3 times now, do you think this is my disk, ps3 or just a problem with the game?

+1 to those bloody rabbits. Only got 3 so far, 2 just then after 2 trips back and forth between Armadillo and Bonnies.

Also yeah my game has dropped to 15ish fps twice, both times were when my horse died coincidentally I guess. Just triggered some animations to get it back to normal.

Just got that 2nd stage of Dead Eye, will make it much easier and should use it more often.

Getting the game tomorrow, probably not going to do the story just ride around

Mexican poncho

Clint Eastwood and Mexican poncho's FTW!!!

I was lucky and managed to come across two cougars attacking some lady. Managed to knife them both but the girl died. She was a welcome distraction. Made it easier :p

Have to find five raccoons, skunks and foxes atm. Bloody annoying.

Also have to find Beavers for one of the stranger missions. I take it you have to unlock the northern area to get them?

Had my first comical glitch just now, a group of 3 boxes came speeding towards me did a circle around me and when they touched me they just stopped, suspended in mid-air.

Im angry as hell.
I'm on one of the last missions of the game and I can't access it because a bug says that person is not around... come back later, no matter when I come back.

Instead of having a normal triggered access point like every other mission of the game, rockstar have to pull this shit and now it's bugged and I'm stuck.

Not only that, but in searching the net for a solution to this problem (which it seams a bunch of people have), I've now had the ending ruined to me.

**** you rockstar:thumbsd:

What's the downloadable content like? and multiplayer?
No proper DLC yet other than that which came with the Limited Edition which were just Golden Guns, an outfit and the Warhorse unlock.

In June there will be co-op DLC to introduce 4 player co-op though, which will be free.
While we're at it, does anyone know where you find bears and boars? I'm in Mexico & have been for a while, but haven't seen any yet.
Zoom out on the map and you'll find pictures of the different animals you want to find. Boars are not to far away from MacFarlane's Ranch, if you follow the train tracks up towards where the waterfall is and where (for me right now) it cuts off at a bridge (where it's probably a completed bridge depending on how far in you are). I had to kill several boar last night, just set my bait around the tracks and eventually had 3 within no time. Will get another 2 tonight hopefully.
Speaking of which, has anyone successfully completed the achievement where you have to knife 5 wolves and collect their pelts? What is the best way to go about it?
Was fairly easy for me in the end. I wasn't even going for the challenge (I knew about it though) and was riding in between settlements when out of nowhere a shitload of Wolves started attacking me and my horse. Seeing this as my chance to get that challenge I jumped off my horse and started knifing away, my horse died but I got the challenge easy enough. If you're having a bit of trouble catching them to knife them, turn dead eye on and you'll be able to get a few easy swipes in.

Yeah but the idea of true wild west was well and truly in decline post 1910 or so once federal rule took over. 1920 or so is the generally accepted true end, but the glory days of frontierism was the period from the end of the civil war (mid 1860's) till 1900.

I just seem to think personally a prequel in the glory days would be more likely, but thats just a hunch
It doesn't have to be a 'prequel' but there's plenty of room to set another Red Dead in earlier days. As you said Rockstar don't generally bring their characters through to sequels or prequels for that matter. So an earlier Red Dead is definitely on the cards. It doesn't have to just continue because that's where Redemption is at.

I ended up getting the achievement earlier today after much frustration. After getting savaged by a pack of wolves repeatedly, I took drastic measures by sacrificing one of the crappy horses I was riding at the time, and killed 3 whilst mounted by swiping them at my feet. When my horse finally bit the dust I then took out the next 2 quite easily on foot. :thumbsu:

Finding 5 boar tusks is killing me. Every boar i kill around hennigans stead just gives me a skin, no tusks. Must have killed 6 of them for 1 set of tusks.

That's a crazy area up there. Boars and cougars all over the place. Reckon i've killed 6 cougars up there too.

And yeah agree with you HBK re the prequel not necessarily having marsten in them, as is rockstars usual m.o.

Be cool to have one in set up around deadwood in the 1870's. Fighting indians, gold prospecting etc etc. Lots of opportunities there

Racoons, Skunks and Foxes are hard to find, will take a while.
The raccoons are the worst. Took me around 2 hours of hunting to find 5. The foxes aren't too bad though, they seem to be trailing the deer a lot just outside Armadillo. The challenge after that one I have no idea where the hell to get what they're asking for.

Anyone up for some MP?
Me and my WILD donkey are waiting lol
How many people are actually online? I NEVER get any matches going at all. It's always me by myself. Kinda sucks really.

Federal law, the driving out of the native tribes and the beginning of mechanised transport and the phasing out of the horse put and end to the real west. The game itself is even marketed as taking place at the end of an era.

Pretty crazy to think the Wild West wasnt actually that long ago.

High Plains Drifter is the shit btw.

yeah, this is the glitchiest game I've ever played

In the mission where you have to
save the horses in Bonnies farm
you have to climb your way up the barn but instead of jumping and grabbing a ledge, he flew Superman style all the way to the top

Epic 8 posse tonight.

Throwing knives are over powered.
Perhaps. But they are a shitload of fun.:D

How good was the double kill on each other Eskimo?!:D

Loved trolling those guys, was so ****en hilarious them thinking we chose to do it to get some XP. It's unfortunate we were doing something that is encouraged in the game to be done, shame on us.:thumbsd::)

Epic session and epic fun.:thumbsu::thumbsu:
