It would be interesting to see what the financial impact would be, if Collingwood supporters only attended home games for a season.

As it would if all supporters only attented their clubs home games...
If you want a medal for being with a club who brings in a big crowd, you won't get it here...

Coming from a team whose season has never gone down the shitter recently with apparently such a good list? Be serious

Your post makes no sense. I assume you are trying to point out the fact that our seasons have gone down the shitter for some time now. Well no shit sherlock. The pessimists amongst us refer to their pessimism as keeping the lid on things...

No, that was genuine contemplation. If all teams did that for a whole season, obviously the impact would be exponentially larger.

Meh.. let them pour in to the game..

It's great for us financially :thumbsu:

Very much looking forward to this game. Should be great fun to kick back and watch!

The very articulate Joffa posted this on Nick's Collingwood Bulletin board:
The red Flag are we committed to the Geelong game:

In answer to the Pussies calling for a call of arms to out noise the Magpie Army....obviously worrying days ahead for the Handbaggers...the pies are the hottest ticket in town and they know it!

If i was to bring the Red Flag will it rally the Magpie Army behind the cause, or will the Ponsford stand just look on?

Will i at my expense print hundreds of flyers and give them out right throughout the Ponsford Stand before the game ?

Are we able to produce this chant like never before ?

Are you able to help with your own flyers to distribute in the area where you are sitting..and wait and be ready for the Red Flag ?

Can we as an online community come together and help out with the preparation and more importantly the delivery of the long slow collingwood chant ?

What can you do to help ?

Do you believe that if we can get this right it will echo around the concrete stands of the MCG in a show of love and support to the Collingwood Football Club ?

Do you believe ?

Because if you do to all the above i will get straight to work but it has to be an equal effort by many others !

I will await for the response !

I have the huge Red Flag it will be seen by all corners of the 'G ' no matter where you are seated!

Shall i dust it down ?

Look out for these flyers too:

I'm scared already.

I reakon it is a great idea, what have Geelong cheer squad members tried to do??

I've always wanted to hear a slow Geeeeelllooonngg at Kardinia Park but the Cheer Squad hasn't adopted that, they go with the 'impressive' Give me a G, give me an E :rolleyes:

The only thing i hope is they haven't a chance to do it, well, at the end at least, means we would be winning.

If it makes no sense how did you understand it?

It's a pity most the Pies faithful will be outside the ground beating up on fast food vendors by the time the Red Flag is unfurled. :p:thumbsu:

Any truth to the rumour it was actually a white flag before Buckley got to it?

I honestly think, generally speaking, it would be cool if more AFL clubs had supporters doing chants during games, a la Premier League.

Great - luv it - fantastic build up to a match, I hope Joffa succeeds in creating a cauldron of sound and that Geelong supporters at least try and match it. Would make for a fantastic atmosphere.

Collingwood are thinking that they'll have at least a 1-2 ratio of supporters. I am expecting a fairly good Geelong turn out though... We might possibly drown them out when they start singing gay songs in their gold jackets.
Come on Geelong ferals. Show ya colours.

I want to hear you guys through the TV!!

There is definitely the numbers for it, but it just doesn't seem in the culture, hopefully we see more of this and other clubs cheer squads + other supporters start to mimic European clubs chants/songs.....i think the Melbourne Victory really show how it should be done and they will only get bigger (and louder).

In european soccer (football) games they have the advantage of the crowd being sectioned off by supporter groups. It kinda encourages the fans of one team, all in one stand, to chant and sing etc. together.

So they need to be told when to speak

Oh this is too funny. Geelong fans acting like a Collingwood crowd doesn't make noise, and has no impact. My god....

And it is not being done for the first time, it was done back in our grand final years. Nothing ever like it, the 03 prelim final.... made Port Adelaide shudder with fear.

Plus the crowds in Soccer tend to be from a particular section of scoiety, eg male and generally not too old. AFL gets a much wider section of the community attending. And there is usually not so much happening in the soccer.

I've noticed the difference at K-park since all the seating has been put in. The crowd used to get very vocal especially in a close game especially in the last quarter. I sit in the Eastern Stand and marvel that everyone now seems to be a passive observer now. It adds to the atmosphere if the crowd gets vocal. Of course when I was I my 20's there were no grog limits and that helped to get supporters cheering going. At the samer time the footy is a lot more pleasant environment to take the missus and kids these days
