I wouldn't be against picking Nielsen as a batsman based on his numbers. I rate Careys keeping, plus he's probably been as consistent as anyone so would be harsh to drop him.

Apart from that I think every batsman should be under pressure apart from Head and Lehmann.

We batted 92 overs across two innings

That's a wicket every four and a half overs...
That's heads must roll levels of pathetic. We shouldn't have won by over 100 runs after being skittled for 182. They say 90% of cricket is between the ears, SA are certainly proving that.

No rest for the weary either, NSW v Qld petering out to a draw so the Shield final is still most certainly attainable. Got to regroup pronto.

Travis Head was interviewed on 5aa tonight and it seemed to me that a couple of things are in the batter's heads:
1) The extra grass being left on Adelaide/Glenelg Oval this season
2) The Duke ball

He made some comment about both factors, saying teams are never going to make 300 in each innings with these factors.

I'm sure there's an element of truth there but equally it seemed as though our batters have been mentally beaten by the conditions before they've headed out there. Certainly there's an expectation that batting will be difficult.

Wonder if he'd bowl his way into the Shield team on that effort?

Probably depends if Sayers, Richardson and Worrall are all fit and ready to go.

9/58 now - make our batters' efforts look even better.

#FourQuicks. Why play Zampa when Head and Cooper are just as good?

Coz they aren't
Zampa averages 50 and bowls far more overs than either. Head being the #1 spinner could get his average down to 40 I reckon.

Zampa looks like he's bowling better this year. Turning them more, not bowling his one day skidders. His record is poor admittedly. Thought he bowled well the last Shield game he played though.

Head's bowling is really, really mediocre.

I'm neither here nor there on Zampa, mediocre Shield career so far but I think he will get better. I'm not always one for recruiting players, but Will Somerville surely doesn't want to be stuck behind Steve O'Keefe for the rest of his career.
He's 32

No different to Victoria recruiting Dan Christian at 31
Yeah, just would have thought you'd be after someone like... Damn there's not much out there, is there?

Wouldn't you be better to go after Ahmed if you want a 1-2 year option?

5th hundred of the season for Dalton today. Surely gets a crack opening next game?
66 not out now in 2nd dig. Is in form if they want to roll the dice on a youngster.

They made some bold calls last season blooding Carey and Weatherald (for Ludeman and Cooper from memory) even though the team was traveling alright.

Have to laugh at Ferguson making 60-odd in grade cricket over the weekend then running himself out. Basically went from shaking off those Test demons to reliving the exact moment things went to shit for him...
