the pink ball is painted instead of being tanned like the red ball is, therefore the paint will come away
Same as the white balls used for ODIs. Those deteriorate so much that they don't even last 50 overs - which is why they use a different ball at either end, meaning each ball is only used for 25 overs.

In test matches, they're only allowed to use one ball at a time, and they don't get a new ball until the old one is at least 80 overs old (or at the start of a new innings). This has the potential to be an absolute disaster.

This thread title is very apt still. The kiwis will be a bit nervous watching Starc bowl like this, even if its not state level standard it'll give him confidence

He gets a chance with the pink one in a couple weeks.

It all stems down to development really. The Grade Cricket comp in Adelaide is a joke and needs to be changed. All thats been done is change a couple of coaches and selection staff, the majority of the failures of players remain.

The toughest decision we made was to rid ourselves of Cozzie, which was a wrong one, and now we get him back past his prime.

I can accept one bad year, maybe 2 or 3 if you're gutting the squad but its been 20 years since we've won a Shield.

Except getting rid of Cosgrove was the right decision, because he never cared enough to try hard enough, and was made to look good in Tasmania where he could use his talent to coast on the efforts of a better team. The only thing keeping him here would have achieved is making his entire a career a flatspot.

He's probably matured, but he was also a massive dickhead in his younger days.

The Redbacks are so shit, it's funny. It'll never change because SACA are more concerned about their own positions than the quality of the side, so they won't make wholesale changes that put them at risk.

Cricket's version of Bernie Vince.

Getting rid of Cosgrove was as silly as getting him back.

When he was with us originally he averaged more than all our batters. After he left he entered his prime and continued to make more runs than all our batters. He made the most runs in the whole competition and won two shields.

Then when he hit 30yo we took him back, with a belated "fitness requirement" about a decade after it would have had some value.
