We've now got a squad who are unpredictable but at the same time never stop fighting.

Winning games without Carey and Trav, and able to rest a guy like Buckingham and stick to the plan with Spencer Johnson.

It's all in a name change.....

Only one of Victoria/WA can win 2 matches and only one of Vic/NSW can win 2 matches. I think SA are in the final.
That's not quite right...
2nd - NSW - play WA & Tas
3rd - WA - play NSW & Vic
4th - Vic - play SA & WA

Given that NSW & WA play each other, only 1 of them can win 2 matches. Ditto Vic & WA.

It's possible that Vic & NSW win both matches, and score enough bonus points to kick SA out of the final.

It's unlikely, but it is a mathematical possibility. SA now has a 2 game lead, with 2 rounds to go - they have 1 foot in the final, but they're not there yet.

Be handy to at least get first innings points next match should help.

Looking at the table, if we at worst draw one of the remaining two games then two of the following must occur for us to drop out.

NSW win both and gain .17 bonus points on us
WA win both and gain .31 bonus points on us
VIC win both and gain 2.30 bonus points on us (essentially impossible)

given NSW and WA play each other and vic couldn't possibly gain those bonus points, a draw secures it.

EDIT: If we lose both, given WA play each of NSW and vic, the only permutation where we miss out is

NSW win both
Vic win both and gain 1.3 bonus points on us (again very unlikey)

Bloody hell, we are making the news as well

South Australia’s resurgence from the depths of Australian cricket despair continued on Friday with a massive Sheffield Shield win over Tasmania putting them a step closer to a spot in the final and a first title in nearly 30 years.
There were no final day batting heroics from Big Bash final centurion Mitch Owen or Test all-rounder Beau Webster at the Adelaide Oval as Tasmania fell 87-runs short of what would have been a monster chase of 381 to win.

The win for the home team, which moved SA 11 points clear of second-placed NSW on the Shield table, was all the more remarkable given the Redbacks were bowled out for just 93 on the opening day of the game, before hitting back with the ball, dismissing Tassie for 101, then with the bat in the second innings compiling a mammoth 388.

Tell you what’s going to be annoying is the home dual spinners plan that’s worked so well this season at Adelaide Oval is literally going to be rendered useless if they end up hosting a final given it will be at the spinners graveyard that is Karen Rolton Oval.

Would have to start prepping that pitch now for it to give any assistance to the spinners.
They may still play both but given the history of the ground and the fast bowling depth in the team that doesn’t seem the wisest decision.

If we are smart, we will make a pitch, play 2 games on it and then host the shield final, Pope will be unplayable.

Was listening to Roo and Ditts on MMM this morning, and they said KRO isn't a possible venue because there's no fences etc.

Could we see another final at Glenelg?

Whatever happens, if we're hosting, make it the Roadiest Road to ever road. A draw gets us the Shield.

Is it a 5 day shield final still these days?
Zero faith for us to bat out 2.5 plus days.

And bat first and if in doubt bat first

Theyve held international T20 games there, im sure they could manage to put up a fence.
