What? It was nothing to do with Darren's testimonial....as far as i know....

I think the last match only got 5 thousand so there you go.
Maybe it could be SA footy players VS Redbacks though.

Still would be good.

Without Adelaide oval, that thing has no appeal.

Really?
That's exactly what i was thinking too!!

How stupid is it that they are having it at Aami stadium just because they have had a couple of full house crowds at Adelaide oval over the last couple of years.

I am definitely not going as it is at Aami stadium which is a long way from where i live. Whereas Adelaide oval is just a 20 minute bus trip away and a 10 minute train trip away.

Do they honestly think having it at aami will help them get a crowd over 35 thousand????

The crowd will drop significantly IMO.

The Slowdown isnt a must see event, most of the time i go because its nearby at Adelaide Oval, and its a bit of fun.

Move it to AAMI, and suddenly the travel means that the entertainment ill get is vastly outweighed by the annoyance of more time on public transport / struck in a traffic jam driving.

I heard McDermott talking about this on the radio a few weeks ago. He said they had no choice but to play the game at the AAMI Stadium due to the cricket starting earlier this year. So they decided to play it at AAMI and he admitted there are a lot of negatives about shifting it there but a few positives.

So I think it’s almost certain to be moved back to the Adelaide Oval next year, unless of course they attract 40 odd thousand which I can’t see happening.

It's the SACA's own fault Adelaide's Oval is undersized and underused. If they hadn't irritated the SANFL in the late 60's/early 70's, the SANFL wouldn't have built AAMI, more work would have been done to develop Adelaide Oval into a 50,000 seat stadium, AFL would be played there, and everyone would have their City stadium that they've been drooling over all year.

The Slowdowns need to be moved to another time of the year - possibly the mid-year break. At the moment it overshadows the SANFL Grand Final too much IMO, which is why I refuse to attend Slowdowns.

You cant play AFL at Adelaide Oval.

Its set up for Cricket in the terms of hills etc everywhere.

And if you built stands there, you would take away the laidbakc atmosphere the ground is renowned for today. That and the pockets are very wide.

I havent been to a slowdown in ages, i was gonna go this year (even if it is at AAMI, as it is within stumbling distance of my house) but i have an exam that afternoon. i mean who the Hell puts an exam on a public holiday?

OH okay well hopefully it does make it back to Adelaide Oval....

If they really wanted it to be at Adelaide Oval i think they could have juggled the schedule around.

I wont be going all the way to AAMI for the Slowdown either.

As for the cricket game, they said it would happen again last year. I cant imagine port players getting involved as I believe it was for the Crows Foundation. I also thought that having it just Crows was a good way for the supporters to get together over summer and to see the players. Had a very relaxed feeling, was a bit of a laugh and the player interaction was good as well.

Adelaide Oval is going to be resurfaced prior to the cricket season so it was not available.

I thought it was for the mcguiness mcdermot foundation.

Or is that the crows foundation?

I will be going to the Slowdown this year simply becasue of the fact that it is at AAMI Stadium, which is only about 15-20 minutes from where I live. My first one since the first or second Slowdown.

thats why it was unavailable for SANFL earlier this year was what i thought...

and they wanted a gap between the sanfl finals and the start of the cricket season was what I had heard, to get it right for the cricket due ot the resurfacing.
