His manager said he was asking for a lot less than $350k to stay at Tigers. A lot less, but not $120k less. If true, he might easily move home for a team that valued him at $330k - well I would

Hrmz... you would wouldnt you? if someone offered you 3 years for say $320K and someone else offered you 3 years at $450K... it would be something you looked very hard at!

Don't see what all the hype is about. Average footballer. Would much rather Yeo and draft picks, then try to get some of our existing players playing in slightly different positions. Ash Smith in the midfield for example, shoot me down in flames now but all the negators on here will claim they always rated him if it turns out a success.
Think youre underrating conca massively talented player. Lets home we can get conca and sheed

Let's assume Conca wants to come home and we can convince him to nominate WC. We would still need to give up something decent to get the trade done. What would that be?

6 + 24 for Conca + 11?

A second rounder and a 5 pick downgrade on our first rounder from our perspective isn't a bad result.

Having said that I'm not convinced either way on whether we should do it.

6 + 24 for Conca + 11?
I'd do that but Richmond wouldn't like it.

I reckon Gaff and Conca are of roughly comparable value. If Gaff wanted to go home, what would we expect in return? Would a deal like the one you've suggested for Conca cut the mustard?

Not sure I agree with that assessment as Gaff was taken higher than Conca in the same draft and has, in my opinion, outperformed him to date and hasn't had the lingering injuries.

But I see your point. Probably not. If I were Richmond I'd be trying to hold onto that pick #11 and sending #27 (or whatever it is) back.

If that were the deal I wouldn't be pleased with it personally.

Is S. Selwood leaving? And if so, what would need to be added to Conca to get him?

Conca + Foley?

The only stumbling block is I hear Gaff is quite happy at WC. Collegue connected to the family has intimated this.

Swapping Conca for Gaff would be a narrow win for us I think, well, long term anyway.

Not a chance. It has already been confirmed he does not want to leave and we have no intention of trading him.

Move along, nothing to see here.

Ahh ok. That's a shame I really like Selwood, that was just another one of those BS rumours then.

Gaff is worth a fair bit more than Conca.

Conca is ooc anyway. I wouldn't be offering our first pick at all.

why is this thread still going?

the club has (thankfully) stated cetegorically they have no interest in conca.

The rumor is that we made a offer for Conca and then GWS absolutely blew it out the water so we pulled out. He is deciding between Richmond and GWS and not Richmond and us.

That's not a reason to pull out. I would be surprised if he went to GWS.

IMO its crap anyway. Phil Walsh was the person who made the final list decisions. Now that he is gone there is no one at the club to actually pull out or authorize the negotiations anymore. I imagine our true stance will come out once a new list manager comes on board

Um no that's not correct.

Phil Walsh was our Strategy and Innovations coach.

Vosso is the contracts / list manager.

EMBATTLED West Coast Eagles have turned their backs on popular AFL identity Jason McCartney as a potential football department manager.

  • Adelaide lawyer and player agent Craig Vozzo is headed west

McCartney played 182 AFL games with North Melbourne (107), Collingwood (38) and Adelaide (37) and had been a short-list contender to fill West Coast’s vacant list manager’s position.

The Eagles are poised to announce Adelaide-based player-agent and lawyer Craig Vozzo to fill the vacancy created when long serving football administrator Steve Woodhouse stepped aside.

Saying that we would want a new coach announced prior to the trade period commencing as they would have a say.

No they haven't.

Plus Conca would be a quality get if we can snag for our second rounder.

Given the importance of attacking rebound from defence and our lack of bigger / taller mids Yeo from the Lions is who we should look at pinching.

Yeo would not cost our first or second round picks IMO and has shown some exciting talent. His speed, vertical leap and agility results at the draft combine were very, very impressive.

Out of contract and the Lions look like they are a mess off field ATM.

Victorian journalist relaying a message that's most likely trying to pull the wool over everyone's eyes. I won't believe it until next season.

Would be surprised if we got him without our second rounder being involved.

Why must we always be on the receiving end of a suppository of wisdom?

Watching Ebert flourish has been, I'm ashamed to say, painful, albeit expected. And the fact we lost him for ~30 + a DOWNGRADE in the 3rd (wtf?) is nothing short of an embarrassment, regardless of circumstances.

Conca is OOC, reportedly willing to return home, has recently suffered a serious hamstring injury, and whilst being solid, hasn't set the world alight. If we involve pick 6, we're officially the easy-beats of the competition. Our second + Smith should be more than sufficient. I admire the empathy of our coaching staff, but we needn't worry bout Richmond, they'll be right. With Cotchin and Martin in the guts (plus a shitload of depth), they'll survive.

Likewise for Yeo, although the interest of other clubs might complicate matters.

based on what Conca's shown in his career thus far, i'd say he's worth a 4th or 5th round pick...?

hardly worthy of a 17 page thread
