The truth is he's struggled to make it even when fully healthy and had to be moved around to different positions. We have no evidence to suggest he would've made it as an AFL level defender even without 2 knee recos.

He'll have a chance next year to earn another contract but it will be based on merit

Oddly, I think it probably increases his chances of getting a 2028 contract. If they were keen now - which all indications point to, I don't see why they'd put a line through him next year as he won't have had long enough back. Whereas a fit Reef needed to get it done at AFL at some stage this year or next to get 2028.

Yeah so sad. He's gotta have to be strong mentally. Wouldn't blame him if he took some time away during his rehab. But he'll be okay.

I think he would be in shock as well after it happened, especially putting in so much hard work, getting back into playing and then everything is just taken away from him in the blink of an eye.
