That Cats win and the Richmond loss has pretty much sealed our fate. Still, if we win the rest of our games we might squeeze in.

Good. It means destiny is in our hands and we have to want it hard enough.

If we're good enough we'll beat the rest of the teams in the hub. Starting with Essendon - no reason we shouldnt get past them, even with a depleted side.

If we are good enough we can do it. We will see if our game style stands up without key players.

Where have I heard that before? There’s only so much you can have in your own hands. At some point we need to have results go our way.. it’s part of the luck of winning a flag. No one seems to want to help us out at the moment. Not even with six goal head starts..

Which one is it?
It's both. The Dogs are shit but they also got out to a six goal head start that would have melted our servers. The Cats are good.

The Eagles have chased down six goal head starts to shit clubs in recent seasons and everyone is disgusted. Oppo clubs do it and all we care about is the result. Just makes me laugh the mood on this board after the slightest hiccup, by surely the most spoiled for success fans in footy. We still have the Dogs on our fixture so chalk that down as a win if this is who they are. No sweat.

Unless we win the rest of our hub games that's the top 4 set imo.
Richmond and Cats play eachother, so let's assume they both win every other game.

If Cats win that clash, we'd only need to win three of four to jump Richmond.

If Tigers win, we'd need four of four to jump them, and four of four to jump Geelong's percentage.

This is all assuming Brisbane (kicked fewer goals than their opponent two weeks running but won each by 1 and 2) or Port (scraped past Hawks last week) don't do anything silly.

Top five upcoming opponents (bold indicates shared opponent with the Eagles or top four oppo).

Port: Sydney, North, Essendon, Collingwood
Brisbane: Collingwood, Gold Coast, Sydney, Carlton
Geelong: Essendon, Richmond, Sydney
Richmond: Fremantle, Geelong, Adelaide
West Coast: Essendon, Bulldogs, St Kilda, North

  • If Port are winning out then so should we - two shared opponents, potentially a game at Optus, Pies could throw a spanner in the works.
  • Brisbane faltering and have a moderate schedule. Favourites in all games but they've just scraped by North and St Kilda. Would it be a surprise if they dropped one of those?
  • Geelong have Essendon, so whatever they do there we can do. They have Richmond which is massive. Should handle Sydney. Not a slam dunk of a fixture but great %. Will be tough.
  • Richmond piss easy, but the Geelong game looms large.
  • Eagles host three rabbles and the Saints. Potential home game vs North. Club stood up last night in a way we didn't see in the first hub stint. A solid lead didn't blow out to 50, we reigned it back in again and again. Every club on there should be entirely doable.

Season is so on, get your heads up you soft campaigners.

I’m liking our chances of taking Brisbane’s spot a lot more than the others. They have Collingwood, GC, Sydney and Carlton. Surely there’s a loss in there somewhere. All of them can be competent enough on their day, especially considering Brisbane should’ve lost to North the other week.

We’re still in the thick of it but it’s got a lot of last years feel to it. We’ve been pretty solid bar the opening few weeks and couldn’t really have done much more yet here we are likely needing to win out to finish top 4. Meanwhile all these c*cktease results happen all around us.

We’re not out of it by any stretch but the frustrating thing is we really should be locked away up there already regardless of last night. There’s been a lot of nearly moments where top 4 rivals have pulled it out of the fire and it’s a lot like Richmond’s goal kicking last night, no one wants to slip up and it’s going to come down to the top 4 H2H (we lost a vital one last night and f*cked the Brissie/Port ones). I know we’ve had our fair share of games we had no right winning but it doesn’t take the frustration levels away when something like a 1 point gap between Brisbane and Norf could potentially cost us a spot.

It feels like Perth is almost in the box seat for the grand final, especially now that the state gov is supposedly allowing AFL staff and big wigs to attend the potential decider during their quarantine. It'll be a shame if we cant make the most of this season, to make it to the last week. Damn slippery QLD games and our ever growing injury list.

Cats are a hard, seasoned team. How did they manage to get their noses in front.

They are but they were helped by the Doggies shitting the bed.

Bizzare as havent they been talking up tim.engliah as the next big thing? Yet saw hawkins rag doll the sh*t outta him
He's the next big thing because people get excited about rucks who move around racking up marks and touches like smaller midfielders.

And there's no doubt he'll be doing that at some point in the near future. He's dominated around ground a few times this year.

But of all the starting rucks in the league, he's probably the worst tap ruck. You can tell he hasn't learnt how to position himself against his opponent, or even where his teammates are below him. Probably made to look worse because he's not strong enough to impose himself in a ruck contest.

Gotta say, I might be less confident than quite a few on here against a team whose brand is based around losing the hitouts and structuring up from there. The Doggies have a great bunch of midfielders who can win the ball.

Thankfully their forwards are as bad as their ruckwork.
