Awful to have to make a thread about this, but we can't ignore the obvious physical deterioration in Ben Reid that became plain today as the game went on.

Maybe others already knew about it, but it took me by surprise today seeing him at the AFL level today.

It's clear now that he's not the specimen he was just two years ago, and obviously this sort of thing can be managed and treated, but the results are never convincing.

I'm talking off course about the shocking situation on top on young Benjamin's scone. It looks like the turf at Etihad up there.

As someone who also went bald in my 20s (in fact, I was bald by 21), I can only encourage Reidy to just embrace it and just shave it all off.

Vale Reidy's hair.

I heard that Swan donated his beard to a German scientist who wants to do an experimental transplant on Reid. Let's hope it works.

Yeah, I was going to keep quiet about this till mid week. Didn't want to be pessimistic after our first win in a long time but now the cat is out of the bag. The club really should have done more to cover the situation up, but as it is there is no way we will get any value for him now come trade week. I cant believe they didn't make him wear one of those helmets that some AFL players use from time to time.
I guess the club just figured that any club that wants him would have done their due diligence and it would have become evident during the medical exam. It's a shame but his days are numbered. At least we got to see his 100th.

Thank you ottoman.

At first glance I was very concerned about the thread title, but it is spot on. There's a lot that the club covers up and God knows we on Big Footy are acutely aware of the club's failings in this regard. But this goes beyond the pale.

However, the solution is right in front of us. Three words. The Big Show. Among his extraordinary list of talents is the ability to reverse hair loss. He is again being criminally under-utilised at Pie land. Brenden will sort it.

The Caff is guilty of covering up his issues, and he has done so by a variety of means. Firstly, he has gone down the hipster beard path, with the bushranger beard being a classic diversion. Then there is the strategically placed cap. But significantly, The Caff has also feigned injury for most of the year, meaning we have been prevented from seeing his uncovered head.

The lengths some players will go to, to hide a balding situation, is breathtaking.

I know the crainium follicles are your specialty. .....but i would like to know your opinion of the caff donning a hair-tie in his beard? It worries me that this is what the world is coming to. If this becomes a trend in the hipster community, i seriously think it's just as concerning as ISIS and we need to send in the army!!!

OMG. That's extraordinary. A hair tie in his beard? I'm afraid that's indicative of the beginning of the end for The Caff. What self respecting male would do that? One who has run out of options on top, I guess. Poor guy. His deterioration is worse than Reid's, and that's saying something.

The boys have been getting into him about his hair loss for years on shows like 'the b & w show'. For baldies like me i have noticed him thinning a little bit but yesterday i was totally like WTF.....its gone!!

dunno why he doesn't just shave it off.. he has the good looks for it.

when you grow your beard as long as macafs it looks like youve made a concerted and deliberate effort to look different. bit like those brunswick st types who make a deliberate effort not to conform.. its actually harder work to look like a moron than to try and look half decent. eg.. i saw a bloke on a bike riding down brunswick st with a jim jess duffle coat. what he sees in it.. when he spoted it at some op shop was a deliberate attempt to look different when he actually looked like a moron.

im a pretty boy fashionista type and its a hell of a lot easier just to buy good quality clothes.. and it takes less effort than trying to spot malakies like a jim jess duffle coat at some obscure op shop. i get my hair cut short back and sides and bit longer on top with nice facial growth.. i dont dye my hair purple and have a pigs ring through my nostrils.. once again less effort on my behalf. but im touted as being superficial and with no substance.. makes no sense to me.

You're starting to get it, its not about the hair on top, its about the beard.

Clearly McAffer is doing the right thing by the club, keeping his beard full length as a suitable sacrifice to the Footy Gods (Leeter and Harry) when we need to propitiate them and break a losing streak.

Swan took the bullet this round, amazing sacrifice (and I genuinely didn't know who the stocky kid was getting a touch at half back until I saw the tatts lol). Witt was attempted to generate...something...on his face but its been banned by the AFLPA and the Church of the Footy Gods from ever appearing on the sacrificial altar.

I think we need a few more in reserve. Grundy Fasolo and Varcoe are all too fashionable to grow more than a wispy negligee over their chins. Elliot and BenKen need to reach puberty first. Goldsack shows promise, and Seedsman could always just snap his fingers and a luxurious face mane would spring from his angelic features.

Well, I would not have picked you for that. Your skills will come in handy in the off-season, when some of us get down to the very serious business of analysing the players' appearances, and the direct correlation this has with performance. Stay tuned Bringout (hope you don't mind my taking liberties with your user name).

But then he wouldn't look like a character in a D.H. Lawrence novel, which is de absolute rigeur.

Not everyone can carry it like Sean Connery.

Now look here, Dawesome - this thread is a disgrace! Worse than the Adam Goodes Booing thread. It's purely baldist. I'd like to submit for your consideration the following:
