Replacement games

Didn't get a code for me and my son. Have to admire the club putting the effort into finding another way to have us miss home games we're entitled to rather than just sell them to another state. It's nice to be ****ed in different ways every now and again. Good work North team.

Got it by going to the AFL.com.au fixture and clicking 'tickets' for this game.

Really weird the club didn't include the link in the email.

Anyways, we're ground level behind goals. Hardly a 'premium' seat if you ask me...

We've been selling games all over the country for 2 decades + and yet we still do not give one shit about Melbourne members - at least not enough to bother looking after them. Pretty frustrated that after paying thousands of dollars to watch about 4 live games in the last 2 years that replacement games are still just lip services. I've never been more disillusioned in 20 years of being a member.

Not sure they don’t care about Melbourne members but you do have a point that they need to do better.

This game will be at the MCG and lucky to be even half full. Get enough bays for all Roos fans to sit together in reserved bays.

Booked seats are dumb too, means supporters in different priority groups can’t sit together.

Say it louder for the people in the back.

Grabbed a seat, they are horrendous. I reckon I'll have a better chance of finding a better seat by just wandering over to the wing myself. Won't be a big crowd, dawk supporters will find better things to do this season. They'll be tuning in from the Portsea pub perhaps.

Me either. Almost 50 year premium member. The admin of this club is horrendous
Agree.

We've paid around $1k per game for the last 2 years to attend an it is infuriating that during this time nothing has been done to improve things.

Like others I didn’t receive all 6 “unlock” codes so I called the club. After sitting on hold (26th in the queue) for ages said codes were sent my way and seating options were discussed. My elderly folks made it very clear they’d be unable to see a thing in the distance from ground level behind the goals so the replacement premium seats sections on offer were given a wide berth and we’ll instead opt to go general admission using our membership barcodes on the day. Level 4 up with the Gods, unless we pay extra to upgrade (most unpopular with our group after a brief check).

After a year where Reserved Seat Members couldn’t even access our seats, it’s pretty poor service by the Club Membership Department.

I said it last year, I sometimes feel that the rusted on loyal Supporters are very much taken for granted. There seems to be more emphasis on making sure Tassie Members are happy or trying to attract those that sit on the fence every year (evidenced by the discounts and perks given if you delay signing up).

I'm just flummoxed in 2022 the club doesn't have an email distribution system in place to send to relevant membership types.

From an large organisation administrative point of view, this stuff is kindergarten stuff.

Haven't changed my email for 20 years, not sure why all of a sudden I'm not getting stuff. On top of that, I'd like to think after the unfortunate staff changes early 2022 due to COVID, that they should be relatively settled with member comms now.

Didn't even get a email about direct debits either, (nor the entitlements for previous years members which I appreciate but would have preferred a solid update about)

Disappointing these valid complaints are still happening at least 15 years on.

As someone who has been frustrated, angered and a vocal critic for years about our membership department and its lack of service, I need to point out one thing.

We all need to understand that the club runs a tight ship.
Really tight.
To the point that hiring and retaining talent is almost impossible for us.
If you want us to keep hitting that $150,000 yearly profit then expect more of the same as to what we’ve received for the past 15 years.
It is what it is.

We would have one of the highest turnover of staff, not just in the competition but in workplaces generally due to the fact we don’t pay well at all.

I had a personal membership manager last year leave without an email or final contact or even an acknowledgment and it’s basically due to the process thst the club gets quality people in and hires them only for these ace recruits to stick fat till they get poached elsewhere because it’s not worth sticking around.
Meanwhile us members are all sitting here expecting the basics such as membership packages arriving on time, hats and scarves bearing easy to collect, simple access to barcodes when needed and sending out of membership cards so we can just go to bloody games.
Now when you consider the fact the employees charged with this task are most likely young, new to the role, learning on the job and relatively inexperienced it could be quite a stressful time dealing with irate and angry members who need their detials on a time critical basis.

I’m sure the club knows this and I’m sure the club wants to invest in the membership department. And I reckon they do until the chief financial officer comes knocking and says we need to make cuts to make budget for the year and all of a sudden we let go a gun account manager who the members loved and was on a decent salary.
It’s as simple as that.

Don’t blame membership staff if you have any issues going forward. They would be overworked and under the pump. Blame the board who continuously under finances and under prioritizes this essential service.

Sonya’s first role is fixing this area to make it workable and sustainable. It’s been a joke for too long.

Isn't the wing AFL members?

Everything relating to game day access has completely changed this year compared to last year, which was different from the year before. Every club is experiencing teething problems. It's a clunky system that has buy in from several other interested parties such as venues, ticketing agencies, sponsors, website developers, and the AFL. No club gets to change the rules and invent their own system. No doubt, mistakes were made in the comms and our membership dept does appear to be understaffed to handle all the complaints, but some of the pile on here makes me wonder whether we have a few professional whingers in our midst.

Oh I do. We've ploughed money into the football department for years whilst running a debt elimination PR exercise when we all know it could have realistically been gone several years back. I'd just as soon like to see the next spare half million go to better membership services, staffing and some decent replacement game services assuming they have no intention of bringing back home games in the near future.

Edit: FWIW board members are far removed from average or even premium Vic members. Tassie games no doubt mean a nice holiday and they sure as shit aren't sitting behind the goals at the MCG or in the nosebleeds. They are far removed from our concerns and seem unresponsive to repeated commentary in their annual surveys. Priorities need to be looked at.

The biggest issue is the pandering to fence sitting members by the way of offering greatly discounted memberships in an attempt to add numbers to the overall tally.

For those of us who've been members for 20+ years (most of those with less than 11 home games in a reserved seat), it's a slap across the face with a monstrously large blow up novelty hand.

Shimma members pay $90+ dollars a game FFS. Other clubs equivalent memberships average out to around $75-80 per game, and they get 11 of them.

This shit needs to get fixed.

Interesting to see what happens come 2027 when Tassie gets it’s own team.
Will the prices stay the same or increase?
I’d love to know what they were in 2009-11 when they were the only years in the last 25 years that we had 11 home games in Melbourne going back to 1997.

There was little difference from memory.

FWIW I'm happy to pay a premium as a "premium" member for the privilege of 11 home games (even higher than other clubs) and seats supporting the best football club in the country. I don't have an issue with the cost per game increasing - I have an issue with the number of games and those with reserved seating decreasing.

Of course, I'm not every member - the reality is that for those on a tighter budget these things do matter and we are likely losing potential members. We have to be able to provide equivalent value for money: that means we have to either offer the same number of games and quality of seating for the same price or offer something that compensates for this loss. In my book crappy handouts, poor service, poor scheduling (AFL driven but fundamentally exacerbated / harder to advocate by selling so many games interstate) do not consist of positives on the ledger to make up for this higher cost to see out team play less at the exact same stadium as the majority of Melbourne teams. Something has to give.

Oh well you should have a read of the 2022 Membership Thread and the garbage posted in there. Ffs it pisses me off no end about how incompetent this Membership department is in anything but debiting my credit card every 2 years for sfa service in return

Absolutely the same situation

I must be lucky as it was pretty damn straight forward.

Got email saying I would get code

Got email with code

Asked people I go with to send me through codes they got

1. 2. 3. 4 all codes text to me within 5 mins

Went to ticketek site. Didn’t notice the second email from club with link. Did what I thought was obvious and went to site.

Booked tickets. Cool ground level behind goals. I like ground level.

Dispersed tickets .

Tickets accepted.
