got it on friday but haven't given it much game time yet. Anyone know how to choose the option to be able to move and shoot at the same time?
There isn't one, the controls options are fairly limited, I went with Type A, as it's the one I used in the demo and got the most used to, Type C let's you strafe(Although not while shooting), but it felt awkward moving Chris around with Type C, as you use the right analogue stick to view, and it's not that type of 3rd person shooter where it helps.

I am not sure how I will go with 1 player (or if I will even bother) as it is hard enough with 2 players. I played co-op for a bit Saturday night with a mate and it was tough but a pretty good game, the 2 player option makes it a lot more enjoyable. Having the chick controlled by the computer would be pretty annoying I think, especially if she wastes ammo and the like.

Wow

Where to begin

What a game....best I've played

I was so impressed by KZ2's graphics, but IMO, RE5 is prettier

Great visuals, great gameplay

God I love this game

Visuals arent even close to KZ2 IMO.

Yep, there is so much wrong with RE5's graphics it's not even funny.

And the water is so disgusting too, looks like slime or mud or something(And I'm not talking about the actual slime and mud), looks nothing like water(More like some anime interpretation of water), and the reaction of the water is completely faked too, it doesn't actually change/move the water as you move in it, the water effects are all overlayed on the actual water, and when there is a full chapter basically dedicated to being around water it can make it all fairly poor, as I said earlier, ALOT of shortcuts and cheats were taken with the graphics in this game to get it where it is, not saying it doesn't look great, just it is certainly not better than Killzone 2(Technically at least), and IMO doesn't go near it in any graphical aspect either.

So far I'm half way through(Or there abouts) played for 6 hours 45 minutes, so far it's been good, but not great, there is alot holding the game back, like some of the stupidly old gameplay elements, like having to read documents to get the gist of the story, just so stale and old.

Although I will say I am starting to like the story the more it goes, it started off very muddled and had no real direction, but slowly and surely the story is starting to mould together, although it does feel like alot of the set-peices and such are very forced.

The co-op tips it over the edge as the best game of 2009 for me so far. I have a barely played copy of KZ2 laying around somewhere, that's how good RE5 is!

has anyone else had some frame rate issues playing split screen. nothing major but i've been noticing a few little skips here and there.

slightly annoying

Can't believe some of the things people are complaining about! I guess you can't make everyone happen but geez....

Loving this game, story is great and graphics are beautiful! Co-Op just tops it off!

Such as?

I'm not saying the game isn't great, it is good fun(Although not as fun and replayable as the demo), but it is highly flawed, reminds me a bit of Far Cry 2 actually, a game that had alot of visible gameplay flaws, but was still really fun to play and offered alot.

Still the Single Player experience is pretty pathetic (IMO) thanks to the shit house partner AI.

And in terms of the graphics I am just pointing out that they aren't THAT good when you really look at it.
Enjoy paying for DLC that should've been included on the disc.
Yep, that is a ****en dog act by Capcom, the fact they deliberately hold back a feature just to make a few extra bucks is disgusting and they alienate their fans by doing so, you already pay full price(In many cases) for the game, so why not get the full experience? Anyway I hope it back fires and the modes die in the arse because not many have bought it, would have been a smarter business move to have the mode in the game(Even with limited features), and then expand through actual meaningful and post-release made DLC.

Whats the go with not being able to move whilst aiming? Thats old school bitch.

any one have prices for the versus dlc pack?

given i picked up re5 for $30 i'm really not that fussed about spending a little extra
400 MS Points, $5US for PSN, I'm guessing that will translate to about $6.95 for us, set to come on the 26th this month.

While it isn't a HUGE amount, it is still utter bullshit they are cheating us out of our money when it should've been in the game on the start and then expanded on through post-release made DLC.

This has been brought up before, but basically what it is, is that is Resident Evil's 'signature' if you will, and it will stand Resident Evil 5 out from the other bunch of TPS/FPS games where it is just run and gun, among other reasons.

It is an old style, but it does work, sometimes, don't personally see it working in the versus mode though, will be so awkward and funny to watch.

i think i've had it with online games, i only ever seem to play with ammo hogs. makes the game very hard

also, has does anyone else think that all your ammo, guns, items etc being accumulated throughout the game regardless of what level / difficulty you're playing seem a bit...well easy?

Yeah pretty much like the last one... Overpowered weapoons and too much ammo takes away a bit of the fear factor, why I don't call it a survival horror anymore :p You don't get scared when you know you can beat em all easily anyway..

Fun but nothing special IMHO. If you've played the 4th, you've played the 5th. Not huge on mercs or online.

I've been pretty lucky so far, had 2 randoms join and both were pretty good, one knew where all the BSAA badges were and the other was a funny bloke and pretty helpful too, so not bad.

You can always request ammo until they give it to you as well.

If you want to have a session with me just ask, I'm usually fair.;)

That is a strange one, especially when you can replenish ammo after a huge boss fight, and it's not as if you don't get enough ammo during the levels.

But having such items like a fully upgraded Rocket Launcher, grenade launcher, AK47 etc. when you start the game makes it very simple.

Have to say though I am enjoying the second half of the game, has really picked up the pace and is no longer a bore in between zombie ambushes and boss fights, I'm now up to the part where
you have to defeat the boss that holds up the platform when looking for Jill in the chamber type thing
, the last couple of chapters have been great, although the puzzles were a little easy, and I'm not one to work puzzles out quickly(Take God of War for example, I had heard they were easy, and 90% of them I took at least 30-40 minutes to realise what I was supposed to do), other than that it has picked up nicely and am hoping for a big ending.

i'm a few chapters past you, it's getting good. there are a few sections coming up i would not want to do with the ai or online without a mic. they take a fair bit of strategy and communication to make it out alive...and with ammo

i've been doing a lot of back ground reading in the library section. very interesting stuff, almost makes me wish this wasn't based in fiction

i'm also having a bitch of a time finding the bsaa badges. don't tell me where they are though

i really liked mercs in 4. and as far as i remember you couldn't chapter select and hoard ammo in the campaign. but i could be wrong

Had a huge 4 hours session with my mate last night over the net, was really fun, was the first time he had played, so he wasn't great to start but got better as it went on(For example I was shooting about 70%-80% throughout the chapters, whereas he was at about 30%-40%), we had headsets so communication was good and it made it alot easier to play and be tactical, especially for not having to play with the dumb shit AI of Sheva throughout it.

I had to cheat with that, went on IGN to find their locations(Me and my mate were going for some trophies so we had to have a look at IGN).:D

Having to find each treasure(A-Z of treasures, not every treasure available in the levels) will be the hardest part for me though I'd say.

finished campaign today. bit disappointed in the end. most of the story and plot development ended up being through notes and not gameplay :(
also campaign mode isn't nearly long enough (or maybe i'm just way to pro to be playing on normal)

started playing mercs, very fun and hectic in split screen. should get some online going

and i've decided i will pay for versus

Hanging to get into Mercs, loved it in # 4 (Krauser FTW!)

Who's available in Mercs in # 5?
