Spoke to a friend of mine who works at JBHifi & she said that resident evil will be $84 on both PS3 & xbox350 but only until Sunday. Or you can trade 2 Ps3 or xbox 360 games for it... you have to go to their website to see what games are excluded (no multiple copies of the same game either) which ends on Monday.

http://www.jbhifi.com.au/games/excluded-games.pdf

^ thats the exclusion lista

Yeah I picked it up there today - were surprised to see it for that price.

Didn't realize about the two game trade in - damn just recently picked up Pure and Dark Sector for $40 each - could've traded those and effectively been paid $4 to get RE5 (sort of... minus two games) :p

it's gotten alot of advertisement

it's on like 80% of the bus shelters i've driven past for the last week.

Anyone notice the Xbox ad for the red xbox with RE5. Looks like it's an ad for RE5, then right at the end has a still pic of the xbox, xbox logo and "Exclusive Resident Evil 5 Xbox" written. Pretty sly marketing I reckon - could almost look like RE5 is an xbox exclusive, if you didn't know otherwise, or didn't read it quick enough.

-edit-
just saw the ad again, also has the voice over quickly saying "get your red xbox 360" or something.

I can't remember seeing a limited edition bundle advertised as an 'exclusive' before. Technically I guess the red colour on the xbox is exclusive to the game, if looking at the point of view of buying the game and an xbox comes with the game (as opposed to buying a red xbox and getting the game as the extra), but still, pretty sly.

Yeah that's right, i was always going to get the game and was surprised to see today when i picked it up that they were selling it for $84 for a limited time only. It's funny to think EB are trying to flaunt it for $119. Haha, thieves! :D

and with EB's price beating promotion you are better off buying it from there.

Price beating? Or are you thinking of the price matching?

I'll be getting this either tomorrow or Saturday, will give my impressions then, I have a feeling that I will have alot of harsh words to say(Like some of the either lazy or needed development short-cuts that have been taken), but will probably love the co-op like I have with the demo(Which I basically have memorised as to how you get through it now).

Have to say I am interested to see what the HOME space is going to be like, apparently it will be getting a heap of features(Arcades, etc.) so will be good to see how it works out, the HOME space has shown some fantastic adapting in terms of graphics: Resident Evil 5 versus HOME

Also there is some DLC coming out soon, rumoured to be a Versus and Slayer modes for Mercenaries.

Like what?

The no movement whilst shooting / reloading?

If that's what you mean, that ain't lazy, that's Resident Evil

Price beating? Or are you thinking of the price matching?

hmmmm, you call me nitpicky?

Maybe he means how its Resident Evil 4 with a touch up? :p

With Coop though

Just go to Game, Big W or KMart and pick up 2 bargain games and trade them for RE5.

I picked up a copy of History Channel Battles and Superbike World Championship for $50. I also picked up Colin Macrae Dirt for $30 but decided I wanted to keep it. So for $80 I got RE5 and Dirt, not a bad deal. If your prepared to hunt around for cheap games to trade I've heard you can get it for around $30, I couldn't be bothered and was happy to pay $50.

even after you wrote this I was still convinced that it was price beating but I've checked and you are right.

Did they ever do price beating?

I'd still buy it from EB for the 7 day replacement deal even though I doubt you'd need it with Res Evil 5

Seems to depend on the store.

My mob does, but apparently others just match

http://www.gamezine.co.uk/news/capcom-s-body-parts-competition-goes-wrong-limbs-missing-$1279812.htm

Capcom's Resident Evil body part stunt goes slightly wrong. Police are called and limbs go missing.

To mark the launch of Resident Evil 5, Capcom Europe held a competition in Central London this morning that involved competitors collecting bloody hidden body parts.

A winner was crowned, Steve Long, a 26-year-old IT consultant from North London. His prize will consist of a holiday for two to Africa.

However, the publicity stunt went wrong due to a number of the replica body parts going missing. Three heads, three torsos and twelve limbs were hidden at a number of London locations, but only two heads, one torso and six limbs were returned across the Westminster Bridge winning line.

Organisers are concerned that the remaining fake body parts might be mistaken for the real thing, sparking alarm. A Capcom spokesperson commented:

"The body parts are very realistic and we don't want people to be alarmed by them. They've all been taken from their original positions, but we now have no idea where they are.

"If you have them, please either return them, or dispose of them in a responsible and careful manner. In addition, chicken livers were used for added gore, and, uncooked, they can be dangerous."

The winner, Steve Long, who adorned himself with body parts, added:

"Some of the parts we found were horrifically gory. They had been hidden well, but they were definitely realistic enough to be confused with the real thing."

The treasure hunt was almost put to a premature stop as horrified passers-by complained to the police. Officers arrived at the winning line on Westminster Bridge in view of the Houses of Parliament, but no charges were made.

Negative Gamer reports that the competition was a muted affair, with individuals nonchalantly walking around with bloody limbs under their arms.

If you have any bloody replica body parts, please dispose of them responsibly.

No I've already stated I couldn't care about that stuff now, I'm talking about all the little technical shortcuts that were taken for either lazy reasons or needed because they had to keep within budget or size(For example bullet holes are timed instead of either staying there for a good few minutes or until you have used up a heap of ammo, seemingly the same AI from RE4 just tweaked slightly to make it 'new', same body bubbling effect from RE4 modified slightly, blood not appearing or disappearing when cut/shot, small variant in zombie enemies, there are others that I have noticed from the demo but want to make sure it is in the full game before mentioning, but basically all of it is tried and true methods of making sure the game comes up looking great, but really isn't THAT good because of said technical cutbacks, just makes it a little cheap because of it).
hmmmm, you call me nitpicky?
That's hardly nitpicky and as you can see by Borgsta's answer he had it wrong, I wasn't being condesending or anything towards him, I just thought he had it wrong and asked.
****ING LOAD OF SHIT MOVE by Capcom, why the **** should we have to pay for DLC days after it's release(When it is obviously ready and not being made post-release), PUT IT ON THE ****EN DISC!!!!

Too many companies are doing this nowadays(EA probably the biggest exploiter so far, although Capcom did the same with SFIV).

This article sums up my thoughts(Not written by me): Resident Evil 5 DLC is BULLSHIT!

I have to say though I don't know how versus mode is going to work, will be a bit awkward IMO.

I'd say about 90% have price matching(Never seen price beating previously), Mancey's is the only one I have ever heard of about price beating.
Getting this game soon!! I love RE series excellent games :thumbsu:

This is my favourite gaming site and has a really good review on it. Not to mention some handy tips in the Cheat section!!

Ewww really? Cheats are for n00bs, you gotta realise this! You get such a better gaming experience without cheats(Unless it's a GTA game, DODO cheat FTW!!!:D).

I just bought this game from JB. $84. Bargain. Will probably get into some co-op later on as well with a mate before United play the Scousers.
Picked mine up earlier today too, planning on a big session with a mate(If he got it) later tonight, so will have my impressions sometime tomorrow, probably.

I was contemplating getting it from Japan for about $55 but couldnt be bothered with all translating. Will have to wait until the Rudd money to grab this one.

Played this at a mates this morning. It seemed like Resident 4 with done up graphics. While RE4 was a good game, it has dated abit now, especially with controls. Was pretty disappointed to be honest. I wont be buying it.

yeh i wasn't sold on it after playing the demo....
i wouldn't end up playing it so gonna save my jb vouchers for a later release

After the first 5 minutes i was not liking it. Soldiered on and as i've gone through the game, i'm beginning to like it a little more. Playing on normal, i find that if i'm surrounded by 3 or more people, i'm stuffed :D, frequently running low on ammo... quite often have to rely on my trusty knife. Finished off the boss on 1 - 2 with my last bullet (phew!).

Got 2 and a half hours in last night, I think I went to Chapter 2.1(Just after that
Shanty Town level, the one from the demo with the Chainsaw wielding boss
).

So far, I like it, but it is highly flawed, some things that bug me are that the game feels very boring, their is too much walking around doing nothing, I think it will probably start to get a bit more intense later, but it is very much walk around try to find hidden items, then after about 3 loads(ie; Walking up to a door, have it load another place) then a minor battle with zombies, then the same thing again.

Also the friendly AI is DISGUSTING! It is absolutely awful, not only will Sheva waste bullets on zombies that are on the ground and only need to be stomped on to kill or when you disorient the zombies to try and get a punch in, but she usually does it at the worst possible times, leaving you to take on 10 zombies or a big boss on your own, not only that she either follows you too closely or will go too far ahead of you and collect a bunch of stuff that you want to collect, and trying to guide her on which enemies to kill is a pain in the arse too.

Can't wait to get playing with my mate on co-op though, will be alot better.

Also I'm wondering, are you supposed to sell all the treasures you get? Or are they supposed to be of some importance later in the game?

worm-like boss that you have to put into the huge furnace
).

I'm loving the game so far. I'm currently up to Chapter 4-1, and it appears there may be some twists in store regarding how the game finishes up and who's the brains behind the operation. Just a feeling.

I understand what you mean HBK regarding the AI. I've found during the levels that are quite confined in space, such as the Oil Plant, Sheva always positions herself behind me rather than next to me, which results in me getting a back load of bullets and her wasting her scant amount of bullets. The amount of times this has happened is amazing, and has really started to become quite annoying.

Yeah, you sell the treasures and unique bugs/beetles you find as it gives you money which you can then use to buy and upgrade your weapons.

Had a bit of a go at it the other night at a mates place, seems pretty good.

Though the chick is pretty useless, when not playing with 2 actual players haha.
