Improved engine looks nice.:thumbsu: Hitmarkers on enemies.(BIG):thumbsu: New/improved weapons.:thumbsu: New HUD, including weapon wheel.:thumbsu::D

The open gameplay looks interesting considering Resistance 2 was quite linear, IIRC Resistance 1 was a bit more open like that. Another thing that they've obviously listened to the fans to and gone back to the first for.

Loved the Auger exposing the hit points on the boss.

Eurogamer paint a very enticing picture in this preview. My hype jumped tenfold after reading it, yet it's just about the same stuff in that Eurogamer vid posted earlier.

The boss battle sounds fantastic.

The first thing you notice about Resistance 3 is that it's brown. Utterly, overwhelmingly, gloriously brown. At a time when grimy beige levels have become a derided shooter cliché, there's something delightfully perverse about Insomniac's decision to show off its new game with what is quite possibly the brownest gaming experience in history. What makes it more impressive is that it totally works, and makes perfect sense in context.

It's especially interesting given that Resistance remains defiantly old school in its construction. This is a fast, frantic fragfest where cover is simply whatever scenery item you can hide behind while crouching.

There are even health packs. Health packs! When I started taking damage and the screen didn't turn red, prompting me to simply hide until I got better, I almost gave a silent little cheer on the inside.

What stands out from this fierce little skirmish is just how much freedom you have to approach the battle in your own way. The map is small, but packed with nooks and crannies. Most buildings can be entered and explored to find new vantage points, while an ammo crate for infinite reloads keeps you focussed on the centre of the map where the action is hottest.

Hulk doesn't follow any set pattern so fighting against him is an exhausting experience, putting you on the back foot and forcing you to reevaluate and reconsider your tactics on the fly. Watching other people on the different demo pods at Sony's PlayStation Experience press event, it soon becomes clear that there are lots of workable strategies for bringing him down.
Sorry for the longish quote, but there's so much quotable goodness.:o

Yeah, but if multiplayer sucks, it will all be moot.

They need to go back to making, efficient, simple to learn yet difficult to master game with large amounts of customisation options.

Oh how I yearn for Squad spawning.
Lagless gamplay...
One hit
Seamless party system..

etc
etc
etc

*wipes tear*

for your sake let's just hope they pander to the "fanboiz" eh?

I loved Resistance 2 online so I can't wait till I can play this one. Nothing better than charging up and shooting a few splicer blades on unsuspecting players.:D

I was a fan of some of the bosses like The Swarm so I am excited to see what they can come up with this time.

First footage of Multiplayer, there's a whole lot of new stuff to grasp. Killstreaks, perks, new weapons, only 16 player battles maximum.

MP Beta incoming later this year:

We’ve said all along we wanted Resistance 3’s MP mode to bring the best of both Resistance: Fall of Man and Resistance 2’s MP and co-op modes, and you’re about to see just how we’ve managed to do that.

Resistance 3 will feature 16-player Human vs. Chimera deathmatch and objective-based modes set in locations across the globe. That may seem somewhat jarring after the 40 and 60-player mayhem in RFOM and R2. Rest assured though, our biggest motivation in determining our new player count was the fun times that we and the community had on maps like RFOM’s Busyard and Rooftops, as well as the Bayou House and San Francisco maps in Resistance 2.

We will be bringing a multiplayer beta to PSN later this year, so stay tuned to our newsletters (Check today’s for the first news on Insomniac’s Community Day on March 29th!), Full Moon Show podcast, Twitter feed and Facebook page for all the latest updates!

My excitement levels for this are slowly dwindling, it's looking like the run of the mill fps to me.
Story driven co-op and 60 player MP games were and are epic, thanks for taking that away and making it like every other fps shooter on the market

Resistance 3 Will Support 3D, PlayStation Move Sharp Shooter Thanks to Community Demand

That said, today we are finally able reveal, due to overwhelming community demand, that Resistance 3 will support Stereoscopic 3DTV. Furthermore, those of you who are enjoying the precision of the Playstation Move motion controller with your copies of Killzone 3 and the SOCOM 4 Beta will be delighted to know that Resistance 3 will also support PlayStation Move and the sharp shooter.
Sony really are pushing 3D and Move...

The good thing is that they're not forcing it on the devs. They ask for it to be in, but if the developer doesn't want it, then it won't be in.

Naughty Dog don't feel Move would work with Uncharted 3 and thus won't be having it.

But Insomniac, being the massive community driven developers that they are have listened to feedback and the want is there so they'll put it in.

Anyway, the more games with Move support the better the decision to buy it is...even though I've barely used it. Need to buy that Sharp Shooter I think.

I still need to buy Move itself...

I told myself I'd get it when Time Crisis came out, reviews weren't too flash IIRC so I passed it up then. Nothing else really appeals to me at the moment though. I'm more than happy playing shooters with the dualshock, I rarely play party games and the rest of the Move implemantation hasn't been up my alley.

Sorcery looks interesting but I see no merit in playing it by waving the Move controller around...

That and it'll look ugly with the PS Eye USB cable coming out the front of my Slim.

Well I more or less specifically got it for Dead Space Extraction, the on-rails FPS...which I haven't played any more of than the demo so far.:o

I really want to see what it's like with Top Spin 4 though, but I need the navigation controller.

If you’ve checked out the US Blog, you will see that the R3 multiplayer demo will be accessible to SOCOM: Special Forces (aka SOCOM 4) purchasers in North America.

In PAL, this demo will be opened up to PlayStation Plus subscribers at the exactly the same time – additional info (such as how and when) will be unveiled in due course.

resistance is shit
I don't see the appeal at all for this game anymore.

Resistance 2 single player was AWFUL, the only good thing about Resistance 2 was 60 player multiplayer and the co-op progressive mode. Then they're removing the only two good things about Resistance 2 .

Does anyone actually care for this game now that multiplayer is only 8 vs 8 and the co-op mode is gone?
The campaign is looking absolutely phenomenal.

It's ditched the whole military mentality and has gone into basically a survival horror game. Also being written by an actual writer and not just someone apart of the Insomniac team. They'll have had 3 years to work on the campaign and that's more than most devs get for a story.

There will be campaign co-op, may not be as consistently fun to play through over and over again, but will never say no to a solid campaign co-op mode.

The best thing about Fall of Man's MP wasn't the amount of players for mine, it was the tactical nature, the amazing maps and the endlessly customisable offerings. 2 of those can quite easily be in there in tactical and maps, although the customisability will be dulled it will have something there. It was always awesome to play epic 40 player battles, but generally, I only played 16ish player maps (as that was what the best games were suited too).

Will wait for the beta to pass judgement on how good the MP will be.
