Picked it up today, downloading the massive patch now. Not really interested in the MP TBH, but will give it a go.

Loving the campaign, easily the best one yet. Graphics have got a major upgrade too, looks great. Definitely looking forward to playing the campaign through on co op.

agreed!

finally got to jump on today and have a go of it and the single player is absolutely fantastic!
the whole thing just oozes atmosphere and is genuinely tense and exciting. story seems to be pretty good and the pacing is perfect.

clearly the best of the series.

also didn't even know this had 3d til after i picked it up last friday so will def give that a try at a later date...probs after i finish the SP

Wow what a difference between the campaign and MP. Probably the worst MP on PS3. No wonder so many people play COD. The objective based modes are so unbalanced. Especially chain reaction. Played about 5-6 games today of it, and whatever team captured the middle point didn't even bother capturing the next. The other team just got dominated a few metres out of spawn.

The game is glitchy as ****, sound cuts out all the time, lag is unbearable (not sure if it even attempts to find local games). Cant remember how many times I was killed from enemies on the other side of map or from a random nade. So much confusion as to whats going on around you at times, its just a spam-fest. The shields are infuriating. Add to that the spawn system is terrible, especially in FFA.

A real shame, considering the campaign was awesome (although I only died a few times on Hard, I hope Superhuman is a bit more of a challenge).

The funniest thing happened to me in Multiplayer last night...
A whole bunch of those slug things were coming towards me, and I had to reload but I didn't really have enough time to do it, so I threw my hedgehog grenade into the back but it directly hit one of them and shot right back at me, detonating, and killing me instantly! Haha, it was pretty funny.

Overall I'm liking the game so far but it's definitely not without fault, the 50 kill score limit on TD really sucks right now, thank god they're fixing it on Monday/Tuesday.

i beat the single player a few days ago and i can definitely say that it is one of, if not THE best fps single player i've ever played.

the sound is awesome, graphics awesome, story is great, atmosphere is unbelievable and the pacing is absolutely flawless.
came in expecting a good game and came out blown away.

great way to finish off the trilogy.

after finishing i played some co-op with hbk but it lost alot of it's creepy atmosphere and i was quite surprised at how laggy it was considering my net is now super epic(we played on hbks host since he hasn't finished the game).
i told him we should stop after one chapter cause you definitely appreciate it more late at night in the dark with the headsets on so you can appreciate the atmosphere and sound more so we jumped on the MP............

hmmmmmmm............gotta say after such an incredible SP campaign i was unbelievably let down.
i mean i didn't enjoy any of the previous resistance multiplayers (so not sure what made me think this would be different) but from what i'd seen this one looked like it could be solid. turned out it's not at all.

everyone has stupid shields which seriously kill the whole thing for me. it takes WAYYYYYYYYYYY too long to take somebody down meaning if you go against 2 ppl by yourself you can basically never win even if you're way more accurate. starting the game with nothing being against levelled up players is so unbalanced it's crazy....
objective modes are moronic....capture the flag not being able to run with the flag and not even having a gun to shoot people when holding it? seriously wtf?
tdm is WAYYYYYY to short and in general it just feels like it was built for a C grade game.

regardless of the terrible MP the SP was fantastic and was well worth the purchase. wholeheartedly recommend to everyone with a ps3 even if you havn't played the previous titles.

Reckon i might have to have a squiz at this single player bizzo. I hate scary games though, is it scary?

Good to hear.

I, like HBK was a massive fan of the Resistance FOM multiplayer and campaign-storyline in 1 and 2.

However, I decided it wasn't a 'day one' buy, and I'll hold off, but I'm really looking forward to how they progress without Hale.

Makes reference to end of Resistance 2:
CamoGFC, is the transition onto Capelli successful?

And, is there much reference to the end of R2 and the death of Hale etc?

Couldn't agree more with Camo re the SP. Absolutely phenomenal. I was always looking forward to what the SP would bring, but it far and away exceeded the expectations I had.

The pacing is what really stands out, everything blends so well and the action is interspersed with great atmospheric and tense moments.

I would definitely put this game up there with my favourite FPS SP's of all time. Right along side Goldeneye, Black, Half Life 2, Medal of Honor (original), etc.

Everything comes together so well. Graphically it's not pushing the boundaries, but there's elements that work brilliantly, the lighting in particular sets the scene perfectly. The art design tends to spark up the graphics too. And there's an absolute SHITTON of detail put into the environments.

The actual meat of the story is good too. You have a very road movie type of feel too it and there's some twists and turns that you definitely won't see coming.

Again back on the pacing. It's very much a mix of Half Life 2 and the original Medal of Honor for me. There's a lot of slower, low or no action moments where you are just meant to soak in the environments and situations. And the detail is where I get the Medal of Honor feeling (plus all the letters scattered about...even though this isn't really a 'new' or 'unique' thing I get MoH from it).

Some games make you feel like you're just slogging through it and thus you have to take a break every so often, games like Vanquish and Killzone come to mind there. But with Resistance it's really one of those games that you could put big sessions into just because it's paced so well that you don't have to always be 'on'. Uncharted is really the only other game that comes much closer in terms of pacing perfectly.

To the MP side, as Camo said, it's not the best. Unfortunately it brings back none of the Fall of Man feel. The only real redeeming feature is that the maps are very well designed. It's decent fun, but has a lot of strange quirks that will lessen the fun as the game goes on.

Couldn't of put it better HBK. Personally i wasnt expecting much from it but damn it blew me away and is definitely up there with the great SP campaigns.

Its too bad the MP sucks and there's so many games coming out soon that it wont get the recognition it deserves.
