Never have I seen a game there for the taking just thrown away. The butchering of the ball going forward and te goal kicking were disgraceful. In teh 2nd half we were legitimately outplayed. But they only got that confidence from our poor finishing.

Thompson- Started well then faded. Needs help
Vince - AWOL for the most part. Kicked a nice goal, needs to do more
McKay - This guy needs a rocket, he has so much more to give. But he is just coasting at the moment
Reilly - Ok, not sure who he was tagging
Sloane - I think we notice him a lot more because of his blonde hair, has tapered off in the last few weeks. Still goes hard at it
Dangerfield - tries to do too much taking on tacklers, kicking style is awful for someone who is actually a good kick. Two misses in the thrid cost us.
Jaensch - SANFL or just leave him as a crumber
Porps - One of his best games for the year. Liked his work all over the ground
Douglas - Kind of meh, but better from previous weeks
Van Berlo - Did nothing, not inspiring at all. Even looked slow and his opponents side stepped him on numerous occasions
Walker - puprle patch in 2nd, AWOL for rest
Gunston - SANFL
Tippett - gets r*ped every week by the umps. Balls kicked in the air to him one one one there should only be one winner
Maric - Just awful
Griffin - Not bad, but not good either, missed two from the square
Symes - Wasteful, ordinary. But does get it
Doughty - Fought hard and did his job, kept up good recent form
Bock - improved on last week, but still too slow
Rutten - Only one who won there position clearly. Good game from truck
Stevens - On fir in the first half, started the rot in the 2nd half with ridiculous turnovers
Henderson - Was injured in teh 2nd half, worst game since being a crow
Craig - The poor finishing now sits squarely on yoru shoulders

It's all been said, and will be said, but there were numerous occasions in the second half when our players did not go for the football when they had to win it. I rarely, if ever, say that about our team.

Danger and Griffin kick the goals they should have alone and we would've won forget how we went for the rest of the day.

11.14 doesn't even look THAT bad in terms of bad kicking but when you reflect how many shots were either directly in front and within 35 metres combined with how many shots either didn't make the distance or went out of bounds it's an indictment on our goalkicking training.

Bad kicking is bad football and that's one of the worst displays of goalkicking I've seen. Questions need to be answered.

That's a win being chalked down as a loss right there. Season 2011 beckons...

They crumbed many goals from close to the goals and we couldn't buy one. We need a genuine small forward and for ****s sake a kicking coach

Yes. Two games in a row thrown away. Our Kiddy Crows just not there anymore, their Tiny Tiggers backed up their senior players well.

Roll on 2011. In the meantime can we dump 2 or three of our assistants and get a specialist kicking coach and a specialist tackling coach?

Bad kicking needs no further discussion, but the tackling issue is odd. The official stats say we are up there, but the way we do it doesn't kill the ball, the opposition plays on all the time. Worrying thing is it looks like the Crows are coached to do it THAT way? Why, what is the benefit of a half tackle? Is our team being taught to do it that way, and if so, FFS -WHY?

Some thoughts:

We are shit. That is all.....only joking! Nah but seriously we are shit.

Our forward system is...interesting. We have a big gorilla that rarely gets beaten in a marking contest. If he doesn't mark it he gets r*ped and then brings it to ground, and yet we don't have a crumber sitting under his feet. WHY?
Walker, and Tippett are dangerous when the ball is brought in quickly. When it isn't they look terrible. There is a lot to work with, but as we saw today, Henderson and Jaensch have a fair bit of work to do to perform consistently. They need 2 years of experience yet.

Midfield is really weak. Thompson has a crack but has poor foot skills. Vince has a go, but can be tagged out of it (noone actually puts a block on to help him either). Reilly has been one of our better players this year which says more about our year than Reilly. Douglas is in a similar boat to Reilly. Dangerfield needs to do the simple things first. He is trying to get ahead of himself. VB has really disappointed. Doughty is fluff only.

Our backlines should be our strength, but is now really slow and turn-over prone.
Rutten is playing well, but is very slow. That can be ok if the others are quick enough to help out.
Stevens is crap. Foot skills are a disaster waiting to happen. He gives the momentum and confidence to other teams. How he can be holding Davis out I will never understand.
Bock is a shadow of the player he used to be. He also prefers to go sideways or backwards than forward.I actually agree with McDermott (I should, I proposed it on here about 3 months ago), trade Bock and pick up Day = massive win for us. Then use normal picks for GUN mid.
Schmidt is not good enough.

Our rucks are probably the worst in the comp. We need to trade for a genuine ruckman. I wonder if Rehn is considering a come back?

Are we the worst foot skill team in the competition?

Intensity is a real concern. Why has it slipped so much this year? Something is wrong.

It’s amazing how as soon as someone is held accountable for his or actions and they are not up to this level of the situation they disappear.

My conscious is clear with my negativity. Today wasn’t a surprise to me.

The most disappointing aspect of the last two losses has been that we haven't been able to click into second gear for any real period of time. We seem really, really flat. I don't know if it's a mental thing or if we're physically tired, but if we couldn't get ourselves up for a Showdown and a "lose and we're out of finals contention" match then I don't know what it will take to get us up and running.

Skills can be miserable and sometimes the opposition can just have a day out, but the real issue today was that we just didn't seem to step up the effort or intensity at any stage today.

Two glaring issues we have positionally are

1) A decent crumber who can actually pick the ball up rather than running past it and then finish. Considering how much we pump the ball to Tippett and the fact the guy never gets out marked we absolutely need someone at his feet

2) Hard running half back flanker, aka Johncock replacement...we don't have one. Schmidt is not the answer.

BOG? Doughty i'd reckon.
Henderson worst game so far, needs to go in harder.
Jaensch couldn't find it.
Gunston quiet.
Rucks insipid
Poor skills
Tackling poor

How did we lose to Richmond...

Angry as I've heard Craigy in the press conference.

Mentioned the work "amateur" 3 or 4 times.

Thompson - Played well. One of our best again. Carrying a whole lot of useless passengers on his back at the moment. Should be captain next year.
Vince - Very ordinary. Barely travelling. Doesn't work hard enough.
Mackay - Again, pretty ordinary. Capable of a lot more, but his game dictates he relies on others to win the ball for him - which is fine, but he struggles when we're getting beaten in contested situations.
Reilly - Mr. Average. One of his floaters actually went through for a goal though, that was a nice change.
Sloane - Has dropped off a bit, but you expect him to be up and down at this point.
Dangerfield - Shocking, appalling. Can't say much more.
Jaensch - Looks tired. Was a passenger again today.
Porplyzia - Much better from him today. One of our better players for sure. Just needs to GTFO of Tippett's way - he's almost taken over the Burton role of spoiling teammates!
Douglas - Liked his game today. Much better than the last couple of weeks where he'd dropped off.
Van Berlo - Disappointing again. It's a shame he hasn't really pushed on as he looked like he may have earlier in his career. I fear there's not a whole lot of improvement to come either.
Walker - When the supply was there, he was good. While we were getting creamed out of the middle in the second half he fell out of the game as you'd expect.
Gunston - Off the pace. Passenger.
Tippett - Only kicked the one goal, but he put in a decent shift today. Worked pretty hard to provide a contest.
Maric - Rubbish again. He's really lost the plot in the last month. Time for a SANFL run.
Griffin - No future. Too soft, doesn't work hard enough. We really need a half-decent ruckman. His misses from the square were just laughable and embarrassing.
Symes - Gash. Gets the ball, does nothing with it.
Doughty - One of our best on a pretty dirty day.
Bock - Better than last weeks debacle, but still way off an acceptable level from a player of his standing.
Rutten - Outstanding on the form forward of the competition. Beat him convincingly.
Stevens - Lose man in defence, played to a level you'd expect from someone in that role, but his turnovers are so, so costly.
Henderson - Passenger. No impact.

Craig - Outcoached by another rookie for the second straight week. Deledio and Newman strolled about with no one on them all day, and that killed us in the end.

2 words- Bad kicking. Nothing else can be said.
Outscored 4 goals to 2 in the last quarter with a massive breeze. Smashed in the clearances and probably beaten in the contested possessions in the last half.

Poor kicking(For goal, in particular) was mostly an issue when the Crows failed to put Richmond away in the second quarter. That hardly is a reason to be beaten in the second half by a team of Richmond's calibre. It was the same last week - sure, you may have won the game had the team had a bit more polish but the hungrier team when it counted won.

If Phil Davis doesn’t come in this week for anyone (Danger, Walker, Henderson or Tippett) he will never play as a forward under NC. The word ‘amateur’ was expressed quite vividly during the press conference as if they forwards were to blame for today’s loss.

I think your summary is just about spot on. Especially agree with you with your thoughts about Walker,Symes,Griffin,Maric,Reilly and VB.

Lots of thoughts.

Midfield
Our midfield really only runs two players deep at the moment. Thompson and Vince.

When Dangerfield is playing as a midfielder it is always in the centre square. He never gets to start outside the square or off half back to get some easier ball, the way all our other midfielders do. This is patently unfair on him and will hurt his development as a footballer.

The criticism for the use of Dangerfield needs to rest squarely on the shoulders of the coaches. We are using a 20 year old as a crash and bash impact player. We are abusing the fact that he is a tough hard unit to make up for the fact that Mackay, Douglas, van Berlo and Symes are all skinny little twigs who have no physical presence at all.

Forward line
Our forward line is a mass of confusion. We get in each other's way repeatedly. We have been so determined to make players multi-skilled and to move them all around the place that we have no reliable structure.

Our attacks are inconsistent. We are never sure whether we are kicking to a lead, whether we are kicking long to a one on one, whether we have a player dropping into space that we should keep away from, whether we should go ourselves and have a shot... an absolute mess. Our conversion per opportunities would be just about the lowest in the league.

Because of the confusion caused by the lack of structure the 'get out option' is the bomb to the square which works rarely and just plays into our opponent's hands.

Defence
Bock, Rutten, Doughty and Stevens are yawn inspiring in terms of the attacking springboard they provide. No Johncock, McLeod and Goodwin was really felt today. The slow, chip around, via-the-cape rebound has exactly zero hurt factor.

I don't know if Armstrong is good enough to become a rebounding, attacking defender for us but we need to discover some players who are capable of providing run from the back half, which has been the trademark of all strong Crows teams.

Ruckmen
N/a. Will comment on this when we get some.

Your comment or non comment on our ruckman is spot on. We seriously have very average ruckman.
