After the disaster of Friday , we still have a small chance of finals , but it's in our own hands .
Recent history has us winning the last 3 against the Tigers and in all games we've kicked the ton . The Tigers won the previous 3 games , but the good stat for us is that we have won 3 of the last 4 at the G.

Richmond you would think will have Dusty in for the injured Short and hopefully Prestia "calf" is still missing as he's critical to them , also no hope of Lynch as he could miss the rest of the season.

For us Tom Mac in for Francis and we need a Warner on the G against them , so Corey in and his form warrants it and in for Hayward who surely needs to go back and get some confidence , would also bring Stephens in for Clarke. Buddy if he gets through training will be named and Amartey to be managed.

Weather looking like a couple of showers , but it's a winter game.
Close game as we had in the Gather Round , but Swans to win by 21 points

On paper, how Richmond could ever win with their forward line right now is ??? But given our goal kicking form this game will probably be closer than what it should be.

Their most dangerous forward is still Riewoldt but he’s definitely cooked and has had no impact for a while. He does like to regain form against us though but either McCartin or Melican should be able to shut him down. Like hes 34 or whatever, should be giving him grief hes no Hawkins

Mids will be interesting. Dunkley went to Taranto all game and Richmond couldnt move the ball. Blueprint. Mills to Taranto and we win the mids.

Our fwds > their backs but goal kciking has been shocking all year.

We still win this if we kick straight

Bedders offered a timely reminder that footy is a winter sport. If it is wet and greasy there will be a premium on the most skilled players who are sure footed, one touch collectors of of the footy and who can use the ball by hand and foot. Having a least one or two forwards who can reliably kick a goal from a set shot would be handy.

In: Tom McCartin, Hugo Hall-Kahan, Corey Warner (as Sub)
Out: Lewis Melican, Will Hayward, Clarke

Surely Tom McCartin now has sufficient 'match fitness' to return. He replaces Melican. Tom is our leading Backman for multiple reasons.

A key part of being a forward is being a reliable kick for goal, including from set shots. The last two forwards you'd want kicking a set shot for your life are Heeney and Hayward.

Heeney cannot be dropped if only because the Swans marketing department would have a collective breakdown. This means Hayward should have a deserved long spell in the 2s. Aside from the yips he cannot mark, gather loose ball gets, win contests or dispose of the ball. The one thing he's good at is spoiling teammates in marking contests.

HHK replaces him. He doesn't go for speccies a la Will, but is a decent reliable mark, a skilled field kick and a reliable kick for goal. Pre Buller he was our one fwd with size (not counting Owen). He is a composed and clever medium forward. He has earned a debut.

It is a mystery why Clarke was named as Sub in the Geelong game. He's been ineffective in his stopper role and cannot play other roles. Corey Warner as Sub is an upgrade on Clarke.

Melican was good and your love for HHK is sickening

If (?) Buddy’s knee has indeed been sore, there’s basically no way he could have run for nearly a month & therefore cannot possibly be match fit.

And the club seemingly won’t give him a run in the VFL.

On that basis - would we consider Buddy as the sub?

I hope so. Because to pick him in the starting XXII now feels completely impractical.

HHK hilarious, that’ll do me. Take me now I’ve heard it all

It is crazy to be calling for HHK over Hayward. It shouldn't and won't happen.
Hayward is an abject frightened liability
Hayward limitations are obvious but HHK? come on significant downgrade to the team.

No issue if there is a improvement over Hayward waiting in the VFL but there is not.

I just want a forward who can kick straight.

Could Buddy play for hayward - nah too tall

Though maybe with a mid sub?

Maybe hayward is sub?

Mccartin in though for francis - move fox back imo

Melican stays , yes he gets caught out at times but has shown enough, he actually isn't bad with his ball use either

we should win comfortably

Why is it impractical? To me, it sounds completely sensible. Amartey looks like he could do with a rest.
How can a bloke who hasn’t run in a month be fit to play an AFL game?

Horse keeps saying Buddy will play “when he’s fit” - I’m baffled as to how he could possibly be anywhere near fit (unless the club has been foxing and the whole “sore knee” thing was a ruse).

This really has been an annus horribilis for the Swans!! We cannot take a break with anything (except one of our players unexpectedly!!)

We seem to have faced an inordinate amount of teams the week after a horrible performance, eg Saints losing to Hawks, same as Lions and now we have a Tigers outfit smarting after a thrashing in Qld v Lions!

I think they will be wanting to rectify their game and the heat will be on from opening bounce.

I think the draw doesn’t impact the momentum we have been building we just need a little bit of luck go our way.

One to note, basically the only team to have a worse record with umpires than Swans is the Tigers. Umps won’t know what to do here!!
