This has been pilfered off the main Richmond site. Take it with a grain of salt, but it appears to be good news.

Here’s some news guaranteed to put a smile on the face of all fair dinkum Tiger fans . . .

"Dynamic forward Matthew Richardson is bang on target to be available for Richmond’s opening round match next season against Melbourne.

‘Richo’, who suffered severe ligament damage to his left foot in the Tigers’ Round 4 clash with Fremantle at Colonial Stadium this year, is doing everything that the Club’s fitness and conditioning people are asking of him – and is thriving on the work.

“Matty’s going along very, very well at this stage and there’s nothing to suggest that it would be any different down the track,”said Richmond’s Football Manager, Garry O’Sullivan.

“He’s been running for a number of weeks and is at the stage now where he’s doing one-paced running and maintaining that over a fair distance.

“A couple of weeks ago he was at the stage where he would run a lap of Punt Rd, walk a lap, run a lap, walk a lap, run a couple of laps, walk a lap. But he’s progressed now to the point where he can go out there and run eight or nine laps without a stop, obviously at the one pace. That’s a really good sign.

“As far as soreness that he’s experiencing after it, well, it’s been very minimal. So, again, that’s another very good sign.”

If Richo can maintain his current rate of progress on the fitness front, then even an Ansett Cup appearance next February isn’t entirely out of the question, although the Tigers, understandably, will be taking a cautious approach with their superstar forward.

“I suppose if we were looking into the crystal ball at practice matches or the Ansett Cup, I’d say it may be beyond his reach at this stage. However, Matthew’s an unbelievable healer and does everything right with his rehab., so you just never know,” O’Sullivan said.

“We’re certainly not planning for him to be available around Ansett Cup time, but he might be involved with match practice towards the end of the Ansett Cup period.

“Medically, and physically, all the indicators are pointing towards him being available for Round 1, which is great news. The Club is certainly cautious in making a full-on prediction, but it’s all looking very, very good as far as that is concerned.”

O’Sullivan said Richardson was jumping out of skin as he set his sights on helping the Tigers climb the ladder in 2001.

“Matthew feels good within himself, he’s nice and chirpy and his body language is good. He’s been doing a lot of weights and, physically, he looks awesome at the moment.

“He’s been diligent with his weights and his diet, etc. etc. So, overall, he’s looking and feeling really good at the moment.”

· Meanwhile, further good news for yellow and black fans is the progress of inspirational Tiger, Duncan Kellaway, on the comeback trail from a total knee reconstruction which he underwent following the Round 15 match against Port Adelaide this year.

“Duncan’s virtually a carbon-copy of Matthew. They’re doing everything together training-wise,” O’Sullivan said. “We all know how meticulous Duncan is with his preparation and with his rehab., so I wouldn’t anticipate too many setbacks there at all.

“Again, he probably won’t be quite ready for the Ansett Cup, but all the indicators are that Round 1 is very achievable for him.” "

You little beauty! That's great news for the team.

How can you look foward to a season when your likely to finish down in the basement. A foolish man once said beware the Jew bearing gifts. I hate to say this (not) but even with Richardson and kellaway on board, Melbourne will slaughter the Tigers in rnd 1. No talent, no skill no heart. That's the Richmond we've come to love over the last 10 years. HEHE

Maybe all this training made Richo's hair fall out?
