R.I.P to a great man, great coach and most of all a great father. He will be missed by many. Very sad news to wake up to

Without downplaying the significance of what has happened I'm not sure what the appropriate solution is in regards to postponement.
Is it postponed to next week? Or during the week? In which case does the AFL just take the revenue hit?
Obviously it would be preferable for the AFL to have a more emotional response. I'm just not sure how that works out practically.

First thoughts obviously but i can see one of three options.

1) geelong and adelaide mutually agree to two points each - no percentage change. Be a nice gesture on geelongs part and given where the teams sit atm - not a terrible outcome for either.

2). The entire afl write this round off - just eliminate it - probably not a great option. If its a top eights turn to play a minnow vs another top eight contender to play hawthorn or freo etc .... Gets messy - still could happen.

3) delay the whole season .... Gets messy logistically but probably the fairest option to all involved.

Feel free to add more scenarios if you think of another way

I can't imagine the AFL would even consider this option, such would be the revenue hit.
Also would Sydney then concede it's win last night?

RIP Walshy

This feels surreal

This will have a significant impact on players at our club.

He was there from 2009-2013 which means about 90% of our squad have worked with him for a longish time.

This is where option two could have a case - hes been a big part of four clubs

The aflpa may well force the issue depending of course if a lot of players feel like they cant get up

The games will be played besides maybe the Adelaide game.

I had no idea there was a game last night and that does complicate 2) out of existence

Im also annoyed as the inlaws were up from perth and it would have been an excellent excuse to exclude myself from a few hours of painful conversation

Think number 1 is the way they'll go.

We've got the Crows next week, should give the winner the Phil Walsh Trophy

Hmmm what if we drop the crows game and everyone else still plays but for no points?

Why bother?

The AFL, Crows and Cats will come to an arrangement. Heck the players may decide to play.

1. What would be the point of playing for no points?
2. That would be disadvantageous for a team like West Coast which has an easier game and advantageous for a team like Collingwood who have a harder game.

Next weeks Eagles vs Crows game at subiaco will feel more like a funeral :( Maybe split the points with the crows as well. The funeral will be held next week and so many players from both teams will be present.
