Not sure what the norm is around big footy for the passing of players parents but wanted to express my condolences on behalf of myself and the big footy West Coast board to Will and his family

Heard on PR tonight that Will's dad unfortunately died of a heart attack earlier this week. Sad news and was only young. In his 50s.

Had only just last week been in Perth helping Will out at his home. Tragic loss for Will and his family. Man taken before his prime.

RIP Mr Schoey. May your legacy live on in Will :thumbsu:

Condolences to Will, his mother and their family.

I doubt he'll be anywhere near the club for the next few weeks. Rightly so.

I think he will be. What's better than being surrounded by the love and support of some of your best mates? Plus the fans :)

terrible news for Schoey and his family. Not sure in what taste this is, but it would be good for Schoey if he could take a long'n'swerving run down the ground and bomb one through for his Dad.

Will has quickly become one of my favorite players > he has really come on in leaps and bounds.
Condolences Will - it's truly a sad day for you and your family. A sudden passing away is always the harder to take. All the best in dealing with your grief, Will.

Apparently, he is playing against the Hawks, and you can only admire the steadfastness of the man. I hope he has a ripper of a game to honor his father, and that the team get up for him. Go the Eagles!

footy is an incredibly psychological game, and this kind of thing would absolutely shatter him. i understand where you're coming from but even with the support it's still a huge loss, i can't even begin to imagine dealing with it. let him fly back to melbourne to deal with it if he has to, give him all the time he needs (luke shuey + sister scenario)

condolences :(

Very sad news for Will and his family. The club willl make sure he and his family is looked after. Wish Will all the best for Saturday and thoughts are with him and his family

Depends on the individual, Jarrod Waite and Nicky Winmar both played in games a few days after their respective dads died where as Dion Woods completely lost the plot and was never the same.

Deepest sympathy to Will and his family. I am sure he would be insisting on playing, otherwise he simply wouldn't be. I have no doubt that the club would be very happy to give him as much time as he would like off. I hope he goes well, I've got to say that I would think I would struggle. I would find it difficult to focus when there is such a major life event that will undoubtedly be in the back of his mind.

According to the tribute Mr S was 65. Still far to young to go, but a bit better than in the 50s.

Condolences for a terrible loss.

Based on how the club helped Shuey, I have absolute faith in the West Coast Eagles coaches, staff and playing group to help him through it by any means.

Thankyou for being so thoughtful Pants. You really are a kind hearted man.

FWIW I wonder if Schoey is thinking that Dad would want me to play?

Why would his dad want you to play?
