Salisbury, Adelaide
AFL Club
Port Adelaide
Other Teams
Boston Celtics, Man City, NY Jets
#1: David Swallow - Gold Coast - Centre
Swallow is a lock in at pick one after wining the Larke medal last year as a junior in the 18's carnival.

#2: Sam Day - Gold Coast - Centre Half Forward
Big Body, Strong, Quick, Agile, he posses every trait to become the games best Key position player over the next ten years. Where do we draw comparisons, you simply can not, if this Athletic talent can be harnesed and his game continue to grow, Day could be a Carey, Brereton Trderea, Brown, Riewoldt CHF.

#3: Harley Benell - Gold Coast - Midfield
Will probably do the Jason Akermanis, Gary Ablett, Shaun Burgoyne style aprenticeship but will grow like these have and be a force in the Leauge as his body matures and his strength develops.

#4: Andrew Gaff - West Coast - Midfield
To add to the wealth of good young Midfielders they already posses, Gaff would accompany, Shuey, Sheppard, Swift, Selwood, Stephens, Mastern well. Could also go a Key Forward Like Darling or Cook.

#5: Shaun Atley - Gold Coast - Midfielder
A bigger midfielder, Gold Coast with a wealth of options should just look to load up in the Midfield as that is where todays game is won and lost.

#6: Daniel Gorringe - Richmond - Ruck
The best ruckman of the championships, to add to the developing ruckmen Richmond have got, Graham, Vickery, Brown and Gorringe should make a formidable line up to feed, Martin and Cotchin over the next 10 years.

#7: Jayden Pitt - Gold Coast - Wingman
Good turn of speed, neat skills and executes to a plan. Add an Outside midfielder to the aquasitions of Swallow and Atley.

#8: Jarred Polec - Essendon - Wingman
A marking wingman with wonderful skills via foot. THe modern Footballer and will go along way in todays game. May play half back to start his career.

#9: Jamie Solly - Gold Coast - Full Forward/Half Forward Flank
A tall, nimble, Marking forward with a great set shot, his early champs was Wonderful in the wet and in the dry.

#10: Josh Caddy - Brisbane - Midfielder/Half Forward
Brisbane to add a good finishing onballer to their list.

#11: Luccas Cook - Gold Coast - Full Forward
Goldy add another Forward to develop over the first few years, With Ablett no certanty and Day and Solly young and raw, Cook is more insurance.

#12: Billie Smedts - Melbourne - Utility
A good Medium sized forward and possibly the ability to play in a Back Pocket or accross the Half Back line, Smedts is a great addition to Melbourne's young and developing list.

#13: Pattrick McCarthy - Gold Coast - Center Half Back
After suring up the Midfield and Forward 50 options, Goldy turn there attention to CHB, Grabbing SA's Skipper. A good size, sure hands and ability to hit up the right options exiting the back half of the ground could see McCarthy used as a Flanker or Key Back.

#14: Brodie Smith - Adelaide - Center
Liked to Chris Judd, Speed and Strength around packs and congestions. Adelaide loosing Goodwin and Edwards this year need someone of the Smith Mould.

#15: Luke Parker - Gold Coast - Midfield
With there last selection in the first round Gold Coast go for best available, in turn it is a mid and a hard nut at that.

#16: Scott Lycett - Port Adelaide - Ruckman
With the Aging of Brogan and Matt Lobbe's inability to demand a spot in there best 22 Scott Lycett is the best option. Lycett also posses one of the biggest upsides of this draft. Reminds me of a Michael Johnson at the moment, but could develop into a Dean Cox type Ruckman.

#17: Tom Lynch - North Melbourne - Key Forward
With the Departure of Hale and Aaron Black's addition last year, North can Grab the big Tom Lynch and add to what could be a strong area in a few years.

#18: Jack Darling - Carlton - Key Forward
12 Months ago, Jack Darling was the best young Key Forward coming through the ranks, Fev had just finished the year with Carlton and ?won? the Coleman medal. 12 months is a long time in football however! This years John Butcher, Carlton will grab the highly rated Forward and prey he turns out better than there last match winner!

#19: Jake Crawford - Hawthorn - Key Defender
Needing to sure up the other end while the Buddy and Roughy show rolls on, Hawthorn take a good Key Back her to partner Shoenmakers for the next 10 years, they can load up on young mids in the next few years.

#20: Kieran Harper - Fremantle - Half Forward/Midfielder
I don't know why but his last game of the champs he certainly caught my eye with 7-8 scoring opertunities, kick 4/5 goals that day and seems a likely type. Fremantle would have snapped up Crawford if he was available, also May a possibility here as a replacement to Hayden who is aging aswell as Watson to replace Tarrant.

#21: Matt Watson - Western Bulldogs - Full Back
To follow Bryan Lakes example and become a premier Defender.

#22: Rhyce Mott - Sydney - Midfielder
I liked the look of Mott from Tassie, Sydney to add him to there impressive list of young onballers, the Jude Bolton type midfielder here.

#23: Josh Green - St. Kilda - Wingman
Two Tassie blokes going right next to one and other, his Speed is an issue but he suits the St. Kilda game plan and is a smart footballer, reminds me or a Ginger Paul Hasilby.

#24: Chad Wingard - Collingwood - Forward Flank
Would suit the Collingwood style well and Kicks goals. A very Collingwood style selection in a smokey.

#25: Mitch Hallahan - Geelong - Midfielder
Loosing Ablett Gelong need best available Midfielders, this is him.

Makes him a real smokey :D

Bit early on Solly, keen to see some DC results on him.

Solly's first three game at the Carnival were class, I think this will see him rise. I liked the look of Wingard and was wondering why no one had drafted him yet, Possibly because he is 16/17... Heppel is the next best available but that changes the draft order, and May would also be about the place!

Bulldogs have locked away picks 1 & 2 with Wallis and Libba. Be stoked to get Smith, here's hoping it eventuates.

I didn't put in the Father Sons as anything could happen, I thought Donovan or whoever the Half Back was that was picked by Gelong would have some better bids, but it never came and he was hopeless!

Can't see the Lions passing on Smith. The rest is good, I like Pitt at 7.

Pitt and Polec are both Wingmen, but i feel Polec would be a better fit for Essendon, I picked selection 7 on what was a better fit at number 8, probably not the smartest option, but both seem very likely types! Polec will win a Brownlow.

Do you REALLY think Darling will slip all the way to #18 ??? I would LOVE him at Carlton, and he and Henderson could make an AWESOME FF/CHF combo !!!!!!!!!!!

Yep, I think his size and his speed are massive issues. Also seems to have attracted troule in many forms and in todays game Image is everything, Assult doesn't just happen, he was in the wrong place at the wrong time or he was mouthy, the tent issue, there have been a few things that recruiters would be taking notes on.

North will go with a running midfielder with a strong skillset. If the top 16 goes as you say I would be very surprised if we passed on Keiran Harper.

Do you thin GC will tak 3 tall forward in the first round, 4 when you include May?

In anycase Melbourne would surely take either Darling or Lynch at 12.

The last thing we need is another medium sized forward. We already have Dunn, Bate, Jurrah, RickyP, and even Cale Morton.

Would be stoked with Keiran Harper, as you said very impressive final game at the championships, looks a likely type.

Dyson Heppell is the next best, But May could also go about here if the Father Son's go the way we expect probably someone mentioned earlier, possibly Harper.

Heppell would be a Good Pick and May is already a Sun

The doggies have been a top four side for a few years with out any giants in the forward 50 and without anyone with Watts' or Jurah's tallent!

Just like we were surely taking Black/Talia/Griffiths last year? Best available seems to be the way we've gone the last few years, so I wouldn't automatically assume that we are going tall with pick 12 at this stage. Smedts sounds decent and capable of playing a creative role across half back (which is something we still need), so I'd be more than happy with this pick.

A good read all up RIT. It was refreshing to finally read a mock draft where Melbourne didn't automatically pick Cook.

General comments.

Chad Wingard is born in 93, so eligable in 2011. Outstanding talent though and I too would love him at Collingwood.

WBD will go F/S = Wallis + Lib 1st + 2nd round

Hawthorn can do better than Crawford at 19 I think. Watson would be a much better choice for mine.

Also not too sure Solly will go top 10! Not confident he will go in the 1st round myself.

Rhyce Mott, not sure he will go 1st round. I view him as more of a late guy.

Appreciate the effort though and like that a few names are different to the mainstream.

Disagree on pick 8...if Josh Caddy is there at pick 8 the Bombers will snap him up,not a Wingman GEEZ! WE NEED MIDFIELDERS!

True. But I think the club was genuinely surprised that Tapscott was still around at 18 and duly picked him.

If Darling is available i would be extremely unimpressed if the club passed. A Watts, Jurrah and Darling forward line would almost be the perfect mix of power, endurance and class.

Fair chance carlton may land another pick there abouts and i'd like to think we'll be drafting a backline this year.. fingers crossed McCarthy and Heppell/Wilson are available with those picks.
