Nope and everyone will froff over Caldwell though who turned it over more and had less score involvements.

Not really but he is just an accumulator that adds very little point of difference to our midfield mix.

Would much prefer to run a rotation of Merrett, Caldwell, Durham, Setterfield and Martin.

Did he?
Parish - 31 Disposals, 15 contested possessions. 3 Turnovers.
Cool, he got some stats. That's a big win from a senior inside midfielder

Voss looks huge. Was never that fit when he was with us.

Should have had more opportunities.

Hope we start giving Tsatas some games.
He never prepared well enough to look like that with us. When Scott mentioned we needed to be more professional he was in the group of players he was taking aim at.
He is doing okay and is at a better level than I thought he could reach but I really do not think letting him go is a decision that will hurt us too much.

Agree, I think he is limited. Lots of posturing but can go missing.

Was more concerned that out physical prep is lacking. Maybe I am just reading into it too much.

Well that was a lesson he learnt when we moved him on. You need to train at the level and not hang out with the blokes that will lead you astray.
There where a couple of others on our list that where lucky they had contracts.

We've a long long way to go...
Well done Vigo.
Well done May.
Well done Lual.
Caddy was great.
Robbo was good.
Get Clarke out of defence, he's a winger.
That's it.

I don't disagree that where we are at, cleaning out a bulk of the non professionals is a good move.

I don't think anyone can know whether he would of reached what he has now here, the club certainly didn't think so.

I think that is the issue, a strong, well run development culture would take on the challenge of turning around the somewhat lacking in application player because of the physical tools he has.

Now we all know our development hasn't been good, that's not news, I just think this situation is a bit of a window into the mindset of the club in making those decisions.

On Voss he's never going to be an absolute superstar, but for example his traits and the way he plays is exactly the way/role we trotted out the corpse of Jake stringer to do. Who kept trying to play that way but was incapable of it.

I'd much rather have the physical traits of Voss in the side then say a Langford for example. Langford a real coaches player with physical limitations vs Voss the athlete with commitment and application issues.
The choice should be easy if you are a well run strong club, I'd like to hope we will get to that point.

Also, Parish's limitations aside which were on full display.

He at least lowered his eyes on a few occasions and tried to hit a target with touch or put the ball in a dangerous position.
That is an improvement for him.

Conversely, that was Andy's worst game, he is trying way too hard.

Lav, my god he cannot kick, like it's beyond bad for an AFL standard footballer. It's top 5 pick Tsatas bad in how much of indictment it is.
He ruins so much of our ball movement because he kicks to the wrong spot of a switch kick. I don't care if it doesn't result in an actual turnover, though he somehow even managed that.

When you kick it behind the outlet player, and don't even hit them you just give them time to move their zone and it totally kills us.
The sooner he is out of this side the better, I know he is only there for reinforcement due to injuries but by God it's bad.

Hope you don't mind the intrusion, though our board was saying how impressed we were with your kids last night.

  • Caddy is a special talent
  • Vigo looked fine in the ruck against an athletic freak but what impressed me was his marking in the backline. Very Darcy Cameron like
  • May looks like a beast and yes, we will be salty throughout his career if he pans out
  • Roberts, Kako, Johnson and Blakison look reliable but more importantly they give it a crack
If Reid and Ridley can get their bodies right then it looks like you have the makings of an elite spine for years to come. More importantly, you already look better than Carlton.

Excellent

Apologies for the quick intrusion.

Saw Caddy for the first time live last night and he is beyond impressive! The sort of player that will drag spectators through the gates just to watch him.

Josh Draper is no slouch, particularly when it comes to the athletic side of the game but Caddy made him look second rate on occasions. That one handed pick up at top speed was mind blowing.

My new favourite non Freo player.

Rarely post on oppo boards but it looks like you guys have finally got out of your own way and are building the list properly

Find a couple of players during this injury ruined season and you will be back in business

Nate Caddy is a great player to watch , Josh Draper is a pretty good athlete but he made him look cumbersome

Lol 😂 what ^ he said

Kids good. Me love the go of Vigo. Caddyshack Kid is a stud.

Some of the more experienced players need a good ******* look at themselves like Gresh, Parish, Guelfi and McGrath.

Jye Caldwell should be captain IMO so Merrett can just focus on footy
Agree regards Merrett. To put it nicely I don’t think he is a people person. I think he is a driven individualist. We need a Watson or hird type to knit the team together. I dont like how the team was gelling before the injuries, something is off.
Honestly don’t know who has what it takes? It would be nice if Durham or Caldwell had the right personality because **** knows who else you could choose.

I know the media love to put freo in the gun regularly for underperforming and supposedly playing boring footy, but personally I really like how their list is shaping up. Considering their age and experience profile I think the up and down performances arent that surprising.
I think alot of people expected them to push for top 4 regularly after their surprise finals win in 2022, but progression isn't linear for younger lists.

Anyway I think their list build would be a good blueprint for us to follow, just need to be a bit patient for time being.
