If Steele had Byrnes's game today, we'd be lauding him
23d (4 contested)
6 marks
10 handballs
1 goal and 6 score assists
There are a fair few others to single out before Ronnie
8 Intercept possesions.
IE they had it, Ronnie got it.

Thought Hastie was pretty poor to be honest. Dropped a couple of easy marks and turned it over by foot. That said he’s been the sub on most occasions he’s played, wouldn’t mind him getting a full game at some stage.Bit rough on Hastie IMO. He wasn't great, but he found a bit of the ball.
Yeah he looked pretty good in there in the last when RTB was moving around the magnetsStill reckon we have gone too early on this "Owens is not a mid" idea.
Was pleased Lyon gave him a run in the last. Will be a fair more useful player if he can have a 5-10 minute burst a couple of times a game.
We'd be looking classy too if we were gifted 8000 1st round picsToo many fumbles, too many turn overs.
Having said that, we won't be the last team that lowers their colours to that mob, they have stars across the field.
They must have changed the rules with ruck contests and defending, Marshall constantly getting held in the ruck, or Briggs blocking his run and letting the ball hitting the deck, and our forwards getting ragdolled as the ball is coming in.
Byrnes wasn't bad until you realise he was playing on Greene for the most part who kicked 5
People will defend Byrnes on that showing..
But getting the ball isn't enough.
I like his heart and endeavour, but he just isn't up to it.
Our senior players all lowered their colours today.
Though still plenty to like, we've become so much more dependable under Ross
Narrow ground didn’t help, wider ground gives them more room/time to be able to help one another, the narrow ground made it harder. Our defence got slaughtered and JWeb looked off his best
Yeah I think a few boys spent a few of their credits today.Boxshall, Clark & Henry in for Hastie, Jones & Travaglia.
They were literally, 'Giants'..Brown etc., just bigger than their counterparts.Whatever they’re paying the GWS trainers we need to double it. They all look like Olympic athletes. Bigger, stronger, faster, how they haven’t won a flag yet is beyond me.
Thanks V - really interesting- first time I’ve really heard RTB outline the future plan - NAS into the midfield when he gets stronger and the right time in the game plus Wilson a mid. Expect NAS to get more mid time now.Ross’s press conference interesting. He reckons there was a lot to like. There has to be an acknowledgement that GWS is a way more settled and accomplished side than us. We have a way to go obviously, but there are things to like for sure.
Our game style was good when we had ascendancy. Great start to the game. Couple of errors and an umpires call going the wrong way and we would have been leading handily.
Ross rattled off that many numbers it was hard to keep up. But in the main we were ok. They took their chances with class and ruthlessness. We didn’t finish off our work. Lack of the right cattle hurt. We still need key position help at either end. And a bit more class and grunt in the middle. Work in progress.
Really pleased with Hugo, Windy, Hall in particular. NAS in another class. If Pou can get into that arena we look a lot better.
Anyway, we move on. Now a few weeks at home.
Serious question - IF Nas decides he is leaving, what is he realistically worth trade and $ wise?
Trying to read his body language and really really hope he stays. God damn.
AgreeOk so stood/bbqed in the northern GWS end in the pocket.
General observation: we were a class below. Skills? Hand balling to you team mates ankles will never cut it - thanks Hammer.
Forward set up was poor. Love Mitchi but if we are hoping he’s more than a 3rd tall and crumber then prepare to be disappointed. That aside our entries were atrocious. They set up with 3 key tall/interceptors and we just bombed blindly . Coops tried but he rarely led into space with the exception of the first quarter.
The old blokes were mia. Steele looked rusty, Cray was tagged out of the game. Jones - the less said the better. He’s not the answer. Hill is/was ordinary. Not his day.
Mace Wood marked well and loved his effort (apart from the howler in front of goal).
Nas and Hugo take a bow they saved us from what could have been a massacre.
Tobin T looked like a rookie - easily bundled out of it.
Interestingly the moves in the last brought us back.
Windy to hbf
Mitch to the midfield (not ruck)
NAS to the wing
Overall some good but a sh#t load of work to do.
… and?Bergman and Ollie Lord if he goes to Port.
