How do you implement a game plan when everyone is in the medical room (5 ACL's).

Yeah last year was a disaster with injuries, so that part wasn’t his fault. The medical team could’ve handled that much better for what they had under their control (e.g., Judson Clarke’s ACL), but I agree that’s not really to do with Yze and his calls

Yze and the assistant coaches need to be called to account - Max Gawn fiasco - they had not implemented Risk Management methodology where they address all of the scenarios that may arise during the course of the game - Max Gawn aerial dominance - what was the plan to address that - why did they not have a plan for the backs or the midfielders provide an alternative avenue - play the other wing - watch how the Melbourne forward were all over the Richmond Players - a deft 20 metre kick to a Richmond player - would then allow a change in play with Richmond’s nd players switching sides further down the field - the fact that Richmond’s players were non plussed clearly indicates the lack of planning by the coaching staff - we will be continually challenged with overhead contests this is the year 2025 and we do not have proper risk strategies in place !

I do agree that Yze could’ve done better.

Our guys knew this and tried to switch and avoid Gawn but sometimes it’s just impossible so we relied on Lynch and others to crest a contest.
Sometimes you have to acknowledge there’s an opposition team trying just as hard as us.

Every club done that, and yes we were more successful but cats and pies were still strong then and are still strong now. It just makes me think where did it go so wrong and how we dropped so fast

Pies got Naicos x 2, Darcy Moore and Quaynor for a bag of chips. Normally when you are in finals for extended periods you don’t get to bring in elite talent - as we couldn’t do for most of 2013-2022. Pies got to bring in the one of the best players in the comp plus AA’s in Moore and J Daicos.

Sydney up there for extended periods… but through their academy got Mills, Heeney, Gulden, Blakey and a couple more for a bag of chips.

Geelong up there for extended periods but missed finals end of 2015 and looked to be dropping away … then the best player in the comp in Danger walks in the door for massive unders as his family is from Mogg’s Creek. Then not long after are beaten in a GF and Jezza Cameron comes on over as he likes fishing. Now they get Bailey Smith for pick-17. And there was the corruption of getting Bowes and pick-7 for basically free to take his salary.

So what great gifts have the Tigers received ? No father-sons. No NGA picks. No superstars whose family live in Swan st.

Looks like Collingwood are contenders again, same as the Cats. Nothing beats 3 flags but gee whizz we've had to bottom out a fair bit whilst some footy clubs seem to be able to regenerate pretty quickly.

We made finals almost every year from 2013-2022 … no academy freebies, no father son freebies and no favours from the umpires, tribunal or injury gods.

Our guys knew this and tried to switch and avoid Gawn but sometimes it’s just impossible so we relied on Lynch and others to crest a contest.

The only thing we could’ve done was kick to shorter targets + eventually work our way up the field to the other wing.

From what I saw sitting high up at the game, one of the reasons why they successfully blocked any switch in the third quarter was because we weren’t running hard enough. Melbourne players were constantly running and positioning themselves for all sorts of scenarios , and we didn’t do that.

This led to those kicks towards Gawn because Melbourne blocked everything else with their hard running and clever positioning. We were caught lacking.

Now that I think of it, maybe Yze doesn’t really take as much of the blame. Maybe it’s the players not implementing what he told them to do, because the other quarters had sound strategy. Or maybe they couldn’t play 4 quarters because of the 3 games in 11 days. Either way, I think our running/presenting down the field was out biggest issue in that third quarter. It made things really difficult for the ball carrier

We got Prestia and Lynch. Doubt we would have got either of those 2 if we were in our present rebuild position. They came over to us because we were playing finals and in our window.

Because we had no rebound from half back. We need to find the next Dan Rioli. Maybe we need Brown to get on his bike more, he at least has the kicking skills to cause real trouble. Give him the licence, hard to do from the sub's bench.

Also our present mids are not creative kicks, (understatement), so cannot move the ball around with precision. McAuliffe, Lalor, Smillie and a few others going through will help sooner than later hopefully.

Probably right on the 3 games in 11 days thing. We just lacked a bit of energy at times. When we did run the ball with forard handball the game had a totally different look, especially late in Q4.
And Grrr I agree there too, we definitely lack that ball carrying speedster off half back. I've got my eye on Juddy to try in that role.
