Would probably have given Prestia another VFL game, but probably won't happen. Adding Sonsie to McAuliffe at least offsets our old and slow midfield at least, effectively Prestia for MacIntosh.

It's actually a pretty good side and no excuses for a crap showing.

So, my fears essentially came true. I've been concerned with the way our forward 50 operates for over 18 months. Even with Lynch in the team, nobody leads to the ball carrier and we rely on long kicks inside 50 to large numbers hoping to lock it in for repeat stoppages.
Issue with that is, when you only have one mode of attack and you've operated in that way for so long it's very hard to change.
Tonight it was glaring because no one was leading and our F50 at times had, what felt like acres of space. Commentary even called it out, our forwards just seemed incapable of making the most common sense leads at the ball carrier which limited the ball carriers options.

In that first half we were absolutely dominating field position and we just didn't know how to capitalise and score.
Yze and the coaching group need to start working on this yesterday. More leading at the footy, smalls creating leading lanes for the key position players. Just open it right up.

This is very clear when you look at how well Collingwood move the ball and how their forwards are constantly leading. Not sure why we simply refuse to do it

Trainor looked like a train wreck up there last week. Hopefully once and for all the Sonsie show will end. Ohh wait hasn't been cancelled yet might be a series 5 coming.

Yep midfield is biggest concern because apart from maybe KMac I don’t think any of the others are what you want in a premiership team. Have currently and have just recruited good defenders but we need to find at least 3-4 quality midfielders. Lalor is one. Any others from his draft year? otherwise have to come from 2025 draft but not sure what the quality is in that draft.

Is this serious? Smillie is a midfielder who was touted as a #1 pick for much of the year, and hasn’t played. Hotton is a midfielder who would likely have gone top-5 if not for his ACL, and hasn’t played. McCauliffe is in his second season and is showing great signs in the midfield - he’s played 12-games. Lalor looks elite but hasn’t had a pre-season so is getting very limited midfield time.

We will get at least one more elite mid in this years draft.

Then TT is a dual B&F and is 27yo. Hopper is playing very good footy and is 28yo.

WTF are people so worried about our future midfield when 4 x excellent prospects have played 20-games between them and only one has turned 20yo ..?!???!?
