I think you're deluding yourself buddy , it makes zero sense for a kid with one pre season behind him to play 10w in a row , a conservative approach which I've heard from the club but ignored in practise would be a spell after 6 or so games
I can see Trainor impact waining in recent weeks , but bury your head in the sand keep on wacking away until fatigue injury's set in then turn over the slot in the side
Plus shorter pre-seasons, plus out injured for a lot of last season.

It may be a new injury, it may be a the same zone that was a major injury.
Hard to get a read on that…not much coming out from the club.

that judge thinking up custom punishments to **** us over with is a piece of shit and i challenge them to a fight behind the senior toilets after school
Stay off the piss ; Don't go smacking c...ts at midnight = No curfew. It was ugly from Balta.

Won one game without Balta. A chance for Blight and Gray to retain their list spots. Both killed it this week.

Balta's got his contract ~ I'd rest Balta completely. VFL team is too tall anyhow.

The level of monitoring and care that all clubs place on players is significant. The club has already rested players (Lalor in round five) and managed training loads (Faull). It has a pretty good idea where all the players are at both physically and mentally.

So why do we need to suddenly rest players because they’ve played x amount of games? If they need a rest then do it, no issues. Yze has outwardly stated that they managed players training sessions to prioritize the games, but as with Lalor versus Freo, if they aren’t ready to go they aren’t selected.

What you are suggesting is trying to pre-empt something that may not happen. It’s like not asking the pretty girl to the dance because she may say no. She might if you ask, but she definitely won’t if you don’t. Why should we try to stop playing someone for something that may not happen?

Lastly, a few poor weeks doesn’t automatically mean fatigue.

how many drunken idiots every weekend do the exact same thing and dont cop a curfew. the answer is all of them. balta was made an example of. its a custom penalty designed to punish him further than the average assault offender by limiting his ability to play footy.

Drunk, fighting at night. Balta faced jail but copped a curfew. The club, his employer, chose not to contest it.

2 employees Blight & Gray get a chance at the top level.

Balta paid in full anyhow.

Diddums.....poor Balta can't play football.

Fight club Lesson 1. check for CCTV.

nah its bullshit, theres machete wielding lunatics, repeat offenders walking the streets of melbourne with less conditions on their bails. im not defending baltas actions but he has copped a higher penalty than your average pisshead yobbo first time offender, thats a fact.

Will be an interesting team selection this week.

Lalor, Dow both injured. Balta interstate game so probably an out as well.

Lynch & Nank to come back in. Prestia would also be selected, which takes up Dows spot.

Sonsie again best on in the VFL playing midfield, does he get a shot in the midfield?

Do they drop Ryan & Rioli again? Logically you'd say yes. However, if they rested Nank due to knee soreness does that mean we keep Ryan for another week?

Trainor would go back without Balta but who plays the 2nd big next to Miller? Blight also played well in the VFL last week, does he get a run?

Does Faull get a rest? Do we give Fawcett another go in his place? Does Green get dropped as his form is below standard atm? Or do we just keep pumping games into him and see?

Club could make some major changes or could also play it safe. I reckon it's time to make some changes personally.

A couple of these kids are getting tired and sore. Reckon we utilise the depth with have at the moment and bring some of the bigger bodies in this week.

Sonsie deserves another crack in the middle. Play Blight even if it's Forward/Ruck.

I'd go:

Blight in for Balta (Trainor / Vlastuin inj?)
Prestia in for Dow
Alger in for Green
Sonsie in for Rioli
Nank in for Ryan
Lynch in for Lalor
Fawcett in for Faull

FB: Broad Miller Gray
HB: Smith Banks Vlastuin
C: Ross Prestia Ralphsmith
HF: Campbell Fawcett Taranto
FF: Mansell Lynch Sims
FOL: Nankervis McAuliffe Hopper
IC: Brown, Sonsie, Alger, Blight
Sub: McIntosh

If Vlastuin's ankle injury keeps him out you'd play Trainor, if not give the kid a weeks break.

they'll never do that many changes at once - but i like it and think there is a decent argument for all of them .... except the Balta one!

Bring Mykelti in.

Lynch and Mykelti in and give Faull a spell.

Play Lynch, Sims and Mykelti up forward
I agree - Lefau looked good last week in the ressies even though he didnt get a lot of reward, mostly becuase of the wind making it hard to pinpoint leads. Fawcett was all over the place - sometimes it just looks like he forgets how to play footy. Bit like Faull sometimes too - just his limbs aren't in tune with his brain - he'll obviously get more coordinated over time but I think some games in the reserves where he is the main target wouldn't hurt.

Benefits of Lefau is that he is smart, is hard, is coordinated and does the basics - like lead up, mark on lead and kick very well - also a massive physical threat with his attack. I see him as a great option as a 2nd/3rd tall.

Big Mykelti will be critical for the development of these young lads over the next 2-3 years.

Agreed.
in hindsight we probably should have rested him.
A major hamstring injury at the end of last year, and no real preseasons as a junior due to cricket commitments, it’s been a huge workload for a first year player.
It’s a fine balance btwn development and player management, generally I’ve been really impressed how we’ve managed our list this year, with so many ACLs etc..
