2017 were the days. After that 100+ point loss to Sydney, winning the Premiership was good.

I knew the moment we went to Perth and smashed Fremantle by 100+. Townsend kicked 6 goals.

From there it was just crushing after crushing until we belted Adelaide
that gws game at the G in freezing cold was the moment I realised we could win it

I see brad sook made injury excuses for the loss LOL

Ol mate Brad will be looking for a new job soon. 😉

What a win, what a night!

Thought Seth Campbell and Retschko were huge all game.

Steely has seriously elevated his game too, very impressive.

My man Jasper having to play on the bigger forwards was smashing in every chance he had, great effort.

And to end the night hosting the post game Q&A was the cherry on top!

Yeah, Adelaide had a soft underbelly, so I knew we’d give it a crack then.

I remember how people on Bigfooty were calling for Cotchin to be sacked because of his bump on Shiel. Was that the start of the saltmine mine thread? Lol

wrong game mang

I was talking about the home and away game at the G against gws in 2017

Winners are grinners and losers can go please themselves…always great to beat the Bombers any place any time, and as for their delusional supporter fan base, they deserve every bit of misery since 01.
Liked the games of Ross, Retschko, Green (his energy; pressure acts and liveliness around goal was good all night), Miller was serviceable and Shorty in his 200th game. Thought Hopper was better last night (and I am not a fan of him), in particular the 3rd quarter he was involved in some good passages of play.

Honorable mentions to Noah Balta and Tim Taranto who both worked hard for the team.

On Jayden Short - I know he has some critics within the Tiger Army, but he did come from a pretty tough upbringing background, worked extremely hard on his game, when he come to the club as a youngster and has gone on to become a two time premiership player in our recent golden era, in strong Richmond sides and is also a B & F winner.
At his peak, he was a strong running rebound defender with a beautiful penetrating right foot kick (he was also no slouch on his left foot) - you have to give the guy some respect, kudos for what he has achieved in his career to date, whether he will play an important part in the short term future, will have wait and to see how that plays out.

Oh and a backhander for the voting panel(s), that determined that Darcy Parish was BOG, he is the atypical modern stat padding midfielder whose possessions generally don’t hurt the opposition too much, for mind the award could have gone to any of Ross, Taranto or Retschko, but overall the win was more important for morale and to celebrate Jayden Short’s 200th game for the club.

It was big Dave Astbury that really cleaned up Shiel in the PF not far from where I was sitting. 😉

lol OK, I know which one you’re talking about now.

Wow you knew that early? I didn’t know we’d win it until the Fremantle game in Round 22. I think the Geelong loss in Geelong kinda rocked my belief a bit

That game only confirmed my belief we would go far in the Finals!
Losing to Geelong at Geelong because of the free kicks paid by the Umpires!

similar to TT.....both links in a chain, but never the padlock..

such a shame with Jonty going down, kid was just gaining more and more confidence and kicking goals.
Take the rest and back in the fight to continue his progression in no tt me.
.
Concussion so will miss a game. Lynch throat problem. Fawcett and Sims get games.

I don’t mean to police y’all lol, but can we please just focus on the positives for just one week? Yes, it is not a perfect performance so we can pick out plenty of negatives (probably the same ones from previous weeks), but don’t y’all just want to feel joy and fuzziness and sunshine and rainbows after a rare win? 🌈☀️
fun police?

Overall quite pleased with last nights game. First half we did what we needed to do to established a lead and then when the Bombers tried to park the bus to limit the damage due to being 3 down on the bench, we were smart and instead of just continuing to bomb the ball forward we took what the Bombers gave us, in terms of just maintaining possession and playing the waiting game unfortunately when we did get opportunity inside F50 we failed to capitalise on them which meant that Essendon were able to stay within touching distance and it could very well have been a situation where we lose the game when we shouldn't have.

It was noticeable in the first half that our pressure especially inside F50 was way up on previous weeks with the Bombers under all sorts of pressure as they tried to work the ball out of the back half. I thought that Lefau was particularly good in the first quarter pushing up the wing to provide an option as we came out of our back line. Retschko was great on his wing all game with a lot of important possessions that help set up scoring opportunities.

As far as Yze is concerned I thought he coached really well. As mentioned above early on we played a more free flowing attacking game, but were able to adjust when the Bombers tried to shut the game down and it will be a good to review with the group and use as a way to help us identify when we need to slow things down and when to go hard offensively.

Changes for the Swans game would be simple with Fawcett coming back in to replace Faull who gets a couple of weeks off due to concussion and the bye, which should give him a chance to refresh for the 2nd half of the year.

great interview last night later on in this show with the custodian of the traditional yellow michael mitchell! what a man! interesting what he had to say about concussion ending his career early too

I think Robey has gone past Grlj, definitely looking like a mistake
We already have Lalor who is the better option as that big bodied mid forward

We didn’t need another of the same type when our midfield lacks pace and outside speed

I’m sure Robey will be a good player but he wasn’t the right pick for our list and what we are building

Grilj and Cumming complement our other young mids much better

Can't see any changes other than the injuries tbo.

Hopper's third qtr saved him from my wrath, but taking a half to get into the game is not acceptable.
nearly always got left behind at the contest. used the ball much better than normal. Full strength team he shoudl never play, he isnt best 22 and needs to be carried by better players.

Great win, loved it. Thought Rossy was best on, but fantastic game by Retschko. Great find.
As for tanking, that’s rarely done good things for teams. The slight caveat is that come the last few rounds, Id think about resting some guns, keep them safe for the next year and get more games into kids. Still cracking in though.

Fair enough, and you need to recruit for need. But toe to toe he looks better.
