cats very slowly transitioning from old to new players trying to avoid the cliff weve briefly tumbled off but it'll come. theres no one to replace stewart or cameron or hawkins. thats the better part of their spine. people jerk it over their ability to stay up the top end but it's in the back of them continuing to lean on all their elder talent.

Only reason they stay competitive is because of the state government funding, home ground advantage for 8-9 games a year on a ground that has dimensions that has no business being in the top level code in the country.

If you can’t make top 8 with those advantages you truly suck. Hopefully it’s not too far away.

definitely a factor but that's always gonna be there, afl house isnt gonna all of a sudden make them push the wings out so the ground doesn't look like a ****ing frankfurter. the best thing for us is that they remain in that lower 8 position and never replenish talent stocks with high draft picks.

AFL always gives them favourable draft and trading exemptions. House always wins

Still relying on our old blokes to lead us, bit concerning
Disagree. Our first half midfield dominance had great contributions from McAullife, Sonsie, Dow.

Lefau looked lively and dangerous, Ryan kicked a couple, Campbell, Cumberland, Mansell hit the scoreboard, Miller was probably our best defender.

Plenty to like from the next gen, of course Baker stood up and was probably our best, but that's not a bad thing, you do need some experience playing well.

last 2 weeks now Dusty has looked so much more confident in his body.
Getting his leg back and the ability to kick 50m is a pleasure to watch.
take the week off and we load up for the big #300 at the G

Getting to be worried about what sort of team we field for the 300th. Lefau done as well now, need to rest some more players for Adelaide just so we guarantee a competetive team for the Hawks game. Hawthorn look as good as any team in the comp right now and will be up for it with the big crowd.

do you reckon caro smokes inside her house ?

can imagine her watching the tigers in a smoke filled room 🤣🤣🤣

Has a cigar lounge in the basement. Nothing better than lighting up a monte christo #4 and watching the tiges play

Just had a good look at our fixture for the rest of the season and i can't see us winning another game this year other than norf if we have most of our injured players back, this season is a total train wreck for us.

western coast wins another game and pick 2 is pretty much ours might as well go hog wild and try to win some games

Its a tough call next week. Eagles win and pick 2 locked up. North win, and pick 1 well in play. North still host the eagles later in the year as well. If we keep losing an acl a week, we may not win again.

Have some winnable games last 5 rounds if we get our best players back. Not looking great

If our injured players were back we would have won the last 2 against good teams. I dont expect us to get players back though, so it may keep getting worse. Play like tonight and lose out wouldnt be a disaster.

Is it confirmed ACL for Lefau ?.
Season 5 No GIF by The Office

Left Geelong tonight far from disappointed. We played some very good footy in the first half and just failed to make the most of our chances that probably would have put Geelong away. A lot more to like about us moving forward than Dads Army down the highway. Yze has a lot of players to work with moving forward and you can see the belief and understanding of what he is trying to implement becoming more clearer.

We'll get a couple of experienced players back in the next few weeks which will help us turn those almost moments into converted chances and with WCE sitting 2 games and % ahead of us on the ladder we can still win a couple of games in the second half of the season and not hurt our draft position that much.

I see the criticism of Dow, but I thought he played well, he may have only had 15 disposals, but 8 of those were clearances to go with 10 contested possessions and 5 tackles plus 20 pressure acts. He is playing as a main midfielder with support from the likes of Baker Graham & McAuliffe in the middle who aren't our front line midfielders. I've said it before and I'll say it again, put Dow in a midfield where he has bigger bodies like Taranto & Hopper around him and a stronger McAuliffe in a year or so and he'll have a role to play as his work in close both by hand and movement through traffic is quite good. It can't be easy being asked to carry a midfield when you're still trying to genuinely establish yourself in the line up as well. These games are going to be invaluable to him come 2026.

As many others have said Hugo has been a revelation this year on the wing, his ability to cover ground is impressive, but what is even more impressive is the improvement in the contested side of his game and I don't mean winning contested footy, but his willingness to get into the hole inside D50 and either take intercept marks or to spoil have really stood out when compared to previous years. The wing role is his moving forward as far as I'm concerned.

Felt for Noah Cumberland today, copped Ridley last week and was asked to play a role on Stewart tonight and it's not the ideal role for him to play, but to his credit he stuck to the task as best he could and a couple of the intercepts that Stewart got weren't Noahs fault either as teammates up the ground let him down with poor disposal. Happy for Noah to play the next couple of games, hopefully with a bit more attacking freedom.

Was pleased to see Samson clunk a few tonight after a rough game last week with his marking, hopefully he can build on that moving forward, because there is something to work with albeit he can be frustrating to watch at the moment.
