While frustrating at times, I'm actually very happy with his development back from the knee op. Phyically, looks 100% and his 100% is very good. His kicking confidence and decision making will improve I'm sure of it.

Robbie burned some opportunities saturday night BUT would some of those opportunities have existed at all if he hadn't of been there? He is such a great reader of the play and has the ability to make something out of nothing. We have less scoring shots if he isn't in the team in my opinion.

It would be interesting to get a set shot vs on the run/snap break down.

He, Monfries, the Hoff, and Mitchell are not great set shots for goal in that 20-40m out.

Hmm, so Gray has a 55% kicking efficiency across his career, so his total DE% is made better by effective handballs it would seem.

I agree with the set shots mostly. Monfries was the second best set shot for goal in 2011, with a 72% conversion rate (all shots) but has been down the last 18 months, possibly due to playing last year as that defensive forward meaning he saw less shots at goal? Hopefully he can lift his form in that regard, because he has certainly missed some crucial ones.

Yep. Indeedy.

Steven is quicker and fitter and had a good few metres and running momentum on Robbie. Good that he persisted with the chase and forced him to kick it at full pace under pressure (even if it was only "footsteps" pressure!). It was a very good/classy finish - but more players than not would have shanked it under that pressure.

Don't know the exact numbers, but I think you'll find Robbie spent more time on the ball this week than in the past month, which is a credit to his form. Not sure he was ready or really up to it quite yet, but a good experience nonetheless against some veteren bodies at the Saints.

Really shocked by the amount of negativity toward Robbie.

The only real knock on him i believe is he should use the first option everytime and not try to do to much.
First option, weather that be pass to a teammate or back himself in to kick the goal himself!!

Sigh.

Gets so much of the ball but just burns it every single time. He is so inept at kicking between the big sticks that even if he's 15 meters out and completely in the clear, he's still always looking to pass it off. I just don't understand his logic.

Can he even kick on his left side? It's like he'd prefer to handball to the opposition than have a shot on his non-preferred.

I understand that he has come back from injury but he has had ample AFL game time to improve. He hasn't, he's gone backwards. I like the bloke, I really do. But he has been nothing short of disgraceful. Needs to lift.

You're still dead right about the sticks, but now he's elite from general play and becomes #11 from set shots.

It's why we should give Sammy C some slack as well.
