Setanta is not up to playing in defence. His lack of a natural feel for the game & the inability to consistently read the game make him too big a risk in defence. The fact that a totally out of form & disinterested Gehrig kicked 4 on Setanta in Round 2 clearly demonstrates he is not going to be a KP defender. I think he has to be persevered with in the forward line, preferably playing across HF, where he provides a mobile & big bodied target.

You know you're probably right and this is a shame in two respects. Firstly, we need another effective KP option down back. Also, it almost definitely means a much shorter career for Setanta - he ain't playing 100+ games anywhere but FB/CHB.

If Thorp did want to leave then you can guarantee Ratts will be after him.

Prior to that draft, HBF and I had a chat to Ratts at a Carlton function and Ratts said Thorp was the pick of the draft. Could not have spoken any more highly of the kid.

Wonder if he signed a 2 or 3 year deal...
A lot can change in a couple of years.

'Rumour has it' that he hasn't got the best of attitudes at Hawthorn.

I believe the club is monitoring the Matthew Leurnberger situation up in Brisbane closely.
As far as I can tell, he is out of contract at the end of the year, and was a massive Carlton fan growing up ...

He has to be our no 1 recruiting target at the end of the season, if he hasn't re-signed IMHO.
Signed a 2 year extension with Brisbane during the pre-season. So won't be out of contract until 2010 at the earliest.

As for this thread, Warnock, if he comes for free would be welcome. Otherwise I'd prefer to chase Marcus Drum instead from the Dockers :thumbsu:

lol when the Judd trade came round always thought jk would come bak especially if W/E are down for years nd carlton r on the way up
i see him bak in navy blue by 2010 (no one expected judd to come here)

I would have thought that getting another key defender wouldn't have been as important as trying to get another forward, to try and give Fev a chop out, much like the Franklin/Roughead combo at the Hawks.

I like the idea on McKinnley, and he has most certainly shown in the past couple of weeks that he can play.

BIG understatement... We can score goals atm, we just struggle to stop them. We have the Fevola/Fish Combo with Waite if we need him and Edwards in the making, who every one has seem to have forgotten. We desperately need a backman.
