It's pretty safe to say that as of last year Nahas was well and truly on the outer, he followed up a great debut year winning Richmonds best first year player and then followed on with a year that was well below standard.

His form this year has been outstanding especially the last 5 or so games which I think saw 2 bog's in a row plus being Richmonds best against the Bulldogs on the weekend.

You could very well say he is one of the most improved players in the competition, his move into the midfield has allowed him to play a much more productive game and as a tigers supporter I'd say he is now one of our most important players...

How do you guys see him?

I dont see him, little fella is below eye-level

bit of a Shannon 'much-maligned' Byrnes type, probably a tiny bit better than Shannon; both use their pace to advantage and generally try to play positive, attacking footy.

I don't mind him, if he's one of your most important players you're in trouble though (he's not, I wouldn't have him in Richmond's top dozen players) - handy 18th-22nd man for sure.

should look to Kade Simpson for inspiration, thought Kade would be a fair bit taller (both skinny buggers though)

... and he's a gun from Port Melbourne :)

I have a feeling after people with Port Melbourne on top of the table in the VFL, a few more AFL clubs will be looking at us for recruits.

Richmond nearly took Mitch Keddell from us as well (until he's injury late in the pre-season)

I thought he was just an inconsistent goal sneak, but this year he is getting the ball, running with it and always taking on the opposition. He's a lot better than I thought he was, having a very good season.

played a few good games in a row, needs to be consistently at this level for the rest of the season to announce himself.

loving him in the dt at the moment, lots of 1 2s and tackles.

Last year maybe but I don't think you could say the same for him this year watch him play he is an exciting player.

Nothing player.

Buzzes around and sells everyone into trouble including himself.

Don't think any coaches would be losing sleep if he got 100 touches.

You obviously haven't watched many of his games this year. Has been extremely damaging - breaking through traffic, taking on the opposition and running off his opponent. He has set up and kicked 3+ goals a game frequently. Ead effectively tagged him on the weekend so I would imagine most coaches would be concerned at the moment about him....including Sir James :p

Mark Harvey, Scott and Voss all had sleepless nights letting him run free and doing as he pleases. :)

You'd think that Shane Valenti would be taken by someone.

He's becoming a quality player, and it's great to see. I sincerely hope he continues to improve as he's a quality bloke.

Like watching him play, he's one of those blokes whose energy and endeavour is unstoppable. He never gives up, and he never does the predictable thing. Sure, he gets it wrong sometimes, but he is a genuine playmaker.

Few outside the club's inner sanctum would've foreseen the improvement Nahas has shown this season. I certainly didn't. With our other promising mids demanding tags ahead of him, his newfound stamina has the potential to make him a damaging player (and put him on the AFL's EPO watch list )...if he can sustain his form.

That's it really...He takes the opposition on, breaks lines and creates. Yeah, sometimes he'll make mistakes, but you expect that when someone takes risks. Mostly those risks payoff, and when they do, the team benefits.

The other good thing about him is he's a tackling machine with 43 so far this year, so he uses his pace both ways.

EDIT: For the record...I thought his first season was good, but he lacked upside and figured his second year would have sealed his fate...Glad I was wrong.

He has three goal assists for the year, and has kicked 7 goals himself. Averages just 3.1 Inside 50s per game, which puts him outside the top 100 in the league in that category. He's playing well, but don't grossly overstate things.

Never thought much of him, but this year has become a top little player. Tigers have a number of good young players coming through.

Nahas was stuck in the forward pocket which is a graveyard for most small players unless your in a very good team, seems now he's been told to push further up the ground and take the game on. But to his credit his workrate has improved at least 50%:thumbsu:

Just a neutral point - goal assists is a pretty useless stat. Score assists and (effective) inside 50's are much more meaningful stats.

Any way you look at it, he hasn't been kicking/setting up anywhere near "3+ goals per game frequently".

He has set up whole pieces of play which have resulted in goals. Just because he didn't handball or kick the ball directly to the eventual goal kicker doesn't suddenly mean he has not been incredibly influential in creating goals for the team. Countless times (sorry I should pull out an exact statistic hear for you ), while both teams have been exhausted, Nahas has taken players on to break the lines and then continued to run the length of the ground to link up and get the ball into our F50.

Statistics can be argued any way you like such as -

Nahas has had 86 handballs to date this year - Swan only 77
Nahas has had 37 marks this year - Swan 37 too
Nahas has kicked 7 goals - Swan 10

So therefor Nahas is as good a player as Dane Sawn, minus the 3 additional goals Swan has kicked Rubbish statistics! Statistics never tell the whole story and they certainly haven't in this instance.

His value this year to the side has been immense so excuse me for ignoring your ignorant statistical argument.

Last year i mentioned on the eagles board that i wouldnt mind trading for him, didnt that go down like a lead balloon though.

Ive allways rated him just needed to get his confidence up and not second guess himself all the time...

Has improved his fitness and is reaping the rewards. Was always lively but use to go missing for large periods of the game and was next to useless when he ran out of steam.

Came in to post something similar. You've said it better and I really couldn't be bothered with the Tiger supporters who'll say he's elite/ almost elite.
