Of the players on our list,i don,t think there is a player who is more overated, with Anthony`s stature his presence has been somewhat minimal in the last 3 years. There is no point putting up for trade in this point in time as no club is interested.

I hate to admit it, but I'm coming to the same conclusion. We'll just have to put up with his 1 good game in 3 or 4 and hope that the shining lights in the forward line compensate. I can't see the point in not playing him, regardless of his inconsitency. He at least takes a very good defender from the opposition.

A very good defender ends up being an attacking option, of Geelongs 11 goals against us 2 weeks ago.Scarlett, Rocca`s opponent initiated 6 of them.

Never win a flag with him in the side. Cost us 2003 when he was doing the chicken dance and clobbered Lade....He has no Brains & is BIG LUMP OF SH!T

fair call. Maybe why Trav is playing a bit closer to goal recentally in case mm does lose patience. No point lumping to much pressure on Reid who will get be the other contested mark option in the foward line. As for Rusling as full foward i think having a small lead player as your full foward leaves a lot to be desired. So for now put up with Rocca till Reid can make his mark

You call Rusling small! he,s 6Ft 3 ,where do you live in the land of Giants.

In: Rusling
Out: Rocca

The quicker the better and we will start functioning better in our forward line and with Trav doing all he can he will finally get some help from the Ruz

His not "small" but is not a "big" kpp. Still a fair margain shorter then rocca trav cloke reid etc. Has shown nothing to suggest he has the contested marking ability that Rocca adds when on song. Reid on the other hand has. Rusling is not a great deal taller then bucks Buckly 186-Rusling 190 cm

I hope he kicks 6 this week and next and all you whingers end up with egg on your faces....

Rocca's 30 now, so he's probably only got 1-2 seasons left in him anyway.

Reid's barely 18years old and too lean at the moment, and I suspect he'll still be undersize next season....patience.

I wait and see how Rusling's shoulders hold-up before I declare him the saviour of Collingwood's forward-line.

BTW...Is Rocca still leading the comp for contested marks? Or has he dropped off a little?

I don't think you realise how important it is having a FF who works
the 50 arc and can bomb it from 50-70 with ease.....

Rocca's roosts defeat the flooding tactics that have crept into our game

He is also up there with the 1%'s in respect to shepherds, forward defensive tackling, takes the ruckwork in the forward line etc etc.

So easy to dismiss players of his calibre.

He'll play a blinder tomorrow - guaranteed. Carlton's inexperienced backline
and lack of height is a recipe for disaster and it will be a good hitout to
get us refocussed towards September.

(I also think Did's is overdue and I fail to see who Carlton is going to
matchup on him)

This is the problem in My opinion. Rocca may bully the poor sides who have inexperienced defences. Against good opposition though.......found wanting more often than not and gets exploited too much.

Oh come on. 200 games in the Black & Whites and you're all baggin him.
Every club has a player who gets this crap from their own supporters.
I can see why he is much maligned by supporters, but it's a tough gig
when you've had to carry the weight of the club on your shoulders when
you consider the absense of Bucks & Clem.....

I think you're being a bit tough

He played well against Essendon on Fletcher and Michael and against Sydney on Barry. He can be poor and you want to kill him but come finals time all it takes is for him to get a kick and goal early and we are hard to beat. Cant believe how much the Rocca boys needed confidence early in a game Sav was the same. Rusling is not the answer yet he cant string games together.

I'd love to hear your impressions of Rocca after he kicks 10 goals this week. :p

This post doesn't make much sense, the way you've worded it would mean we DO in fact need him to win a flag, hence we lost in 2003 because he was rubbed out?

He is the real question mark in our side. I thought the way he finished last year he was lucky to get a game in the final ahead of Trav Cloke, and I was prety unhappy that he did. And his performances this year have been patchy to say the least. But he still can turn it on and take the all important contested grab. For me the most frustrating thing is that we still don't seem to have worked out how to play around him. He almost always gets a touch on the footy, and while he drops a lot of contested marks he more often than not brings it to the ground. I don't understand why there aren't more blokes hanging around his feet waiting for the scraps.

Some here are almost calling him a finals dud. FFS have a look at the 2002 GF. Certainly didn't go missing on the big stage there.

I think regardless of how anyone feels about him he is vital for our structure and has been for years. There is no doubting he has been a great player for the club. I can see the validity in the arguement that the game has gone past him, in the sense that sides with full backs who are prepared to run can set up rebound without him chasing to far down. But then its the midfeild and defences job to exploit that by forcing the turn over and getting rocca the ball alone or uncontested, full backs are not going to run off a man if the balls going over there head and back to him

Whats the chance of Rusling coming in for Rocca if Rocca doesn't show anything in the time up until Rusling is ready?

No Rocca, no Pies. Is he still leading the league for contested marks as he has been most of the season? Is he still our number 1 goal kicker? Is he still the one forward we have who is genuinely feared?

Big heart, bad groin, but still a most influential barometric player.

He has no accountability. When the ball leaves our attacking 50 he stops, even if his opponent continues to run. He misses crucial goals, which is what he's paid to do, and when he has a bad day he is a liability to the side. I'm fed up with his inconsistency, and quite clear he's on the outer and Collingwood becuase he was left out of their leadership group for this season. The next few weeks and this year's finals series will determine his future at Collingwood IMO.

It was this game last year that everyone was calling for his head, then he kicked 6 from memory?
