Unfortunately Roo misses out but I didn't think he was ever going to play. Awesome news that Maric is in, been tearing it up in the SANFL for quite a while now and it's about time he gets his chance to shine! Play well and Clarke's spot is further in jeopardy. ;)

Sounds like he hasnt seen much game time. Did he look OK when on?

He came on to match their young string bean ruckman, DeLuca.
Ivan gave away a couple of silly free kicks by not looking at the ball and going for his opponent, but he will learn. Not afraid to get down and dirty below the knees.
His goal was special. Kicked into the man on the mark, retrieved the ball, moved around the opponent, straightened up and through it went, straight as an arrow from the Tony Hall dead pocket. Brilliant.

Will learn more from tonight than half a year of the Magpies.

I thought Clarkie had actually been in top form this year... would be surprised if he got dropped (unless injured) before Huddo comes back:confused: . Maric certainly looks promising but up against the "big" ruckmen, would be killed. He's got no bulk to him at all and he'd just get pushed aside too easily. Great to have the "big man bonus" at our club... a luxury we havent had for as long as I can remember.

I hear Huddo's out training :thumbsu: .

Was a fan of Maric last night, his intensity and desire for the ball was first rate. 5 tackles for what was probably little more than a quarter of gametime is OUTSTANDING.
Was a little dissapointed in his ruckwork though, although I've never been much of a judge of it. Seemed to have a few bounces go completely against him into the arms of port.

7 touches, 1 goal and 5 tackles is outstanding for a big man making his debut considering he only played 26 minutes. Needs to keep bulking up, but he looked okay in the ruck contests - lost more than he won, but he was serviceable and he'll improve.
Loved the way he dived into a few packs and his tackling was brilliant to see. Also did a lot of good work filling up the gaps in defence. A few times he looked like he wasn't sure where he should be running, but he'll improve quickly, and he's already better at it than our current two ruckmen by the looks of it (although they too have been a bit better this year, to be fair) - definately a hard runner.
Looks a lot like Huddo when he contests the throw ins.

Side note to NC...please pick Roo from now on ...300 in Perth :D

Sorry PC... 301st in Perth

Mark Ricciuto is currently on 290 AFL games and he should play his 300th in the heritage round against the kangaroos.

Round 16 vs. North Melbourne Kangaroos Friday, July 21st AAMI Stadium

Geez Maric showed some real promise last night but he also showed quite a few flaws in his game.

The Good

- His work-rate was fantastic

- Kicked a pearler of a goal

- I just LOVE the way he butters up in general field play. He just tackles and tackles and tackles some more. A bit of Huddo in him

- Generally he showed great poise for one so young

Needs improving

- His ruckwork, I thought he got beaten by DeLuca in actual tap-outs. He just couldn't get his hand on the ball in ruck contests

- Telegraphed a kick to a team-mate with Shattock a meter away from him. He got smothered because of it but then he did butter it up to kick a great goal and wasn't he fired up after he kicked it :D :thumbsu:

Having said that, he should get another game next week against the Roos.
