Looks like the AFL snuck through a rule change...

" AFL's talent update to clubs also included a new element of its next generation academy system, with five clubs now able to access eligible multicultural talent from Darwin.
The city's multicultural and indigenous talent was originally not allocated to any club due to its history of producing AFL players.
But from 2017 the five existing clubs with next generation academy zones in the Northern Territory (Essendon, Collingwood, Hawthorn, Geelong and Melbourne) will be able to nominate multicultural players residing in Darwin"

So the 5 Teams have Access to Darwin then? So teams can fight over players in Darwin?

The key word in that is multicultural, reads as if none of the clubs gain priority access to indigenous Darwin players.

as They are talking about Olonago. Are they many Multicutural Players in Darwin?

The AFL is talking about having a separate ruck academy that's where he fits in. They just wrote about multicultural Darwin players in the same article. Darwin is fairly multicultural, but no idea on the numbers who play Aussie rules.

I see he is playing in a game today streamed live on you tube, be interesting to see what type player he is and the skill set he possesses.

So l gather he will be training with us for the duration of this season and getting used to the AFL environment at club level, and probably playing TAC cup or some VFL games. Then we draft him or rookie nominate him at draft time?

He is a Small/Crumbing Forward

Darwin's community is extremely culturally diverse , you can find Chinese/Aboriginal families quite common. Darwin is also regarded as the gateway to Asia, Indonesia, Malaysia and Papua New-Geinue people very prominent.

Obviously there is also Greek, Italian, Indian and strong Irish influence. Starting to see alot more African base families imigratrate to the region which seems to be happening all over Australia. Hope I have not left any body out.

Had a crush once or twice on beautiful girls that came from European/Aboriginal back grounds as a kid. The girls had darkish skin with blue or green eyes, stunning!

I don’t know the rules that well, but my understanding of Darwin is that most play AFL football anyway. Darwin isn't like Western Sydney, the population is only 150k 160k from memory, not 2 million or what every it is in WS.

Wait, I thought that he and his family were going to be upset at Collingwood and hold a grudge against them for not drafting him last year. That's what people here were saying were they not?
No, that was our other indigenous talent from the Northern Territory; James Stewart.
