Edwards was a bit of a gun forward in the TAC and led the goal kicking for his team with 50 plus. Pretty short at just over 6 foot but very well built and very strong.
Been playing KPP in the WAFL for Claremont. Moves around the ground well on the couple of games I saw on him in the WAFL on tape.
Good kick and has a good presence about him and does the team things and competes very well.
Lacks elite fitness and was shown up when he made his debut for WC this year and kicked a couple of goals and had a great first half only to cramp badly after that and sit the rest of the game out on the bench.
I would play him as a third tall HFF who can act as a decoy depending on who mans him up or be the go to man if his opponent zones off. In short a shorter less talented Fevola type of player.
I would not take him for a rookie spot. But would take younger players who have no baggage. Don’t mind selecting a player with injury concerns who missed drafting because of it.
The point I would make here is that the PSD (Pre-Season Draft) is held BEFORE the rookie draft.
So players like Grima, Iles, Toovey etc may well be picked up there and even Ryan Jackson. Does not seem that many of the recycled blokes are going to be picked up.
We will only be using 1 pick on McLaren. Hawks are taking Guerra and Stevens and Thurley are certainties to be picked. Travis Baird also will go there it seems.
So we will have to wait and see who is available for rookie listing after that.
There is a strong rumour that Essendon are very interested in a couple of Carlton champions. Without giving to much away they go by the initials of Mark Maclure and Rod Ashman. Both are in tip top condition and are ready to go.
Peter Dean was spoken to but was considered far to young to fit Essendons recruiting policy.
Interesting times ahead for the Bombers.
