Well here's another one of my theories.... I noticed that against Port, the Port team seemed pretty low in intensity in the first 1/2 in fact the commentators were complailning about them being lazy. I wonder if this is a ploy that is being used against the Woods, given their current very intense high-pressure style. Just do enough to keep within range in the first 1/2 and let the Pies wear themselves out, then cut loose in the second half with fresher legs. I haven't seen the dogs game yet (still waiting for blasted torrent to come through) but perhaps the dogs did a bit of that also? it might be an effective tactic. If so, maybe Pies could keep it in mind and employ a counter-measure - probably do the same thing themselves in the first half if it looks like the oppo is doing that.

I would have thought in general that was how we win games staying in touch up to half time and blowing them away in the third in most cases especially last season. I don't think its a tactic as such but merely a peaking during the game a gradual ramp up in intensity and physicality. I tend to think when we start well in game we don't usually finish off well but when we stay in touch and play decent football through out the first half we come home stronger?

We have a plan which works against bottom sides but I think we haven't got a clear plan against very good sides (i.e. Western Bulldogs). We seem to concede "honourable" losses in Perth rather than go flat out for the win - perhaps that's why we have had some success (in recent times) on the rebound, when traditionally most sides struggle to bounce back and have a downer but that is expected. I would like to know.

I disagree, I think we went flat out against the Eagles.

You don't get within a few goals of a side like the Eagles if your not flat out. In the port game with better skills in the first half we could have had it wrapped up or at least be in a position to defend for a while and slow the game down.
