Sure is great to hear someone that sounds professional.
Pretty sure we wont have any players not understanding their roles or exactly what the coach expects from them any more.
An no more excuses like players werent sticking to structures eg the comment about Pav putting himself in midfield too often.
Im sure if players dont stick to structures they will be dealt with.

An im sure everyone is going to miss those Harvs attempts at sheedyisms.
That one about some kid on a bike an ballantyne not only confused everyone but also would of offended ballantyne.

An im still not a believer in Clarke as a forward.
Ive seen him take 1 or 2 decent grabs.
So that means he will have to rely on his leading ability, which he doesnt have an that will take time an plenty of games experience in that role to learn.
Not saying he cant become a very good forward, as he could be an absolute weapon with that height, speed an agility.
Just saying he doesnt have the skill set for that position yet.

Right now i still believe his best position an where he will produce his best performances are as backup ruckman, his tapwork is good an with more strength an experience can be very good ,let him run free use that speed an athleticism to run off the opposing ruckman an be used all around the ground.
Could easily play the same type of role as Nicnat only difference is Clarke has a much better understanding of the game an can kick.

And goddamit

A friend in need indeed!!
Cheers Belnakor.Just got home and didn't have to figure anything out, just listened;thankyou.
A very pragmatic, unflappable and affable professional is what he sounds like.
A methodical and thorough knowledge of what's required individually, structurally and as an organisation to develop the club's on field competitiveness.
Great overview of the game and sounds like a balanced fella with lots of attributes which the very cluey coaches and leaders have.
Easy listening for mine.

I am so pleased to hear Ross say that the priority is a lot more contested ball in defence and attack. It was a total disaster and embarrassing to watch our pathetic contests last year.
Also I am pleased to hear he wants Griff and Sandi both on the field.Griff was awesome in replacing Sandi last year.Zac will be fine down forward.
Im in love with Lachie Neale already-----his attitude and his toughness show he is going to be a jet.
Cant wait for the year to start

I know what you mean, I cant think of one ruckman in the modern era who genuinely becomes a successful key forward. People may make an argument with tippett, but im still not sold on him, he is very hit or miss. Probably the most recent example would be brad ottens, but even still, he played his best footy as a ruckman. prior to that, paul salmon would be the best of the lot id say, but it was a different era back then, a different game, forwardline pressure is so much more important.

Im tipping that clarke up forward will have sporadic success, which will lead to clarke playing more as a back up ruckman and griffin playing bulk wafl.

A valid point but Clarke is very different to the modern ruckman. He moves better then most of our midfielders and his fitness is superb. He could almost become a prototype ruckman utility. With his speed, huge leap, height and fitness he could play defence, forward or in the ruck. I don't think it matters where he plays just as long as he gets a game.

I'm with Clay on this one, McPhee is an average tagger. While Judd didn't have his usual affect on the game, he didn't exactly stop him completely like Crowley has done to players before. And his game on Hodge while rough and tough, was clearly due to Hodge's injury problems limiting him.

Not Freo related, but did anyone else find interesting Lyon's observation that St Kilda should have won the flag in 2009 and his implying that the Saints were the better side in the 2009 GF but lucky to get the draw in 2010? (Feel free to answer 'No' - I'm just bored at home with my office closed by political turmoil!)

With the likes of mundy, mora,Barlow all fit & raring to go, along with a few recruits from the drafts of 2010 & 2011 putting their hand up, I just can't see there being room for the likes of Crowley, McPhee & Jonno. The last three guys are depth players now!

I agree with 2/3. I think there is still a spot for one of Johnson (if Ross, himself and the club can get him fit and to pull his finger out for once) and McPhee as a spare parts man if hes fit and others arent. Crowley is too slow and will likely be squeezed out, especially if DeBoer is going to play midfield as the no 1 tagger.

Ross sounds like a million bucks compared to Harvs (as nice of a bloke he is). Decisive, direct and just seems to know a helluva a lot. I think he will get the best out of the squad and I can see why you fellas are happy with what your hearing from him and seeing at training. Clarke forward could come off, we are 1 year on and he has no doubt improved. Mitch Clark is 198cm I believe and Zac I think has more talent so I am betting he will play some good footy there.

Where Tofushark when you need him.

granted i listened to this folllowning someone elses link but if your there t's keep posting the interviews some of us less tech savvy fossils value it

Completely off topic but on DTV there is a Sunday times interview with Tendai Mzungu. The interviewer is utterly pathetic and asked the dumbest questions. He actually asked Tendai if his parents were still together, which it turns out they are not.

Just watched it myself also, and utterly agree. Mzungu runs rings around the so called professional. But you'll be happy (not) to realise the interviewer is the "The Sunday Times chief football writer Braden Quartermaine". This is the best they can put up...

Soughta related. The web today, & apparently Ch.10, ran a story on the WCE visiting PMH. Surprise surprise that I can't find media coverage on our boys two equivalent visits to FREO hospital this month.
